Food was very good. The Flan desert was tied with the very best of 5 Mexican Restaurants we have tried. Beer prices was very fairly priced. The only negative, no cold glass or mug, with the bottle beer. First Mexican restaurant I have found that does not offer. So that is a negative. I wanted to try the margarita, prices are way to expensive. When drink prices, get close in price, to a nice plate of food, does not make sense. You can get a great quart of margarita mix, including Tequila, for $9 at Costco. Our server lady was very good, high marks to her.
I love Serranos. I know it's Texmex. But it's better then the other Texmex restaurants. They have great chicken enchiladas and awesome black beans. Dine in, take out it's all great. I miss the fireplace but the remodel is really nice.
Beautiful restaurant, plenty of seating, loved the bar area. Drinks were fresh & yummy!
I love the way they renovated this place! It's much more modern and fresh but still holds the charm of the original Serrano's vibe. I ordered the fire grilled fish tacos and skinny margs for myself, and quesadillas for my kiddos. The staff was friendly, the food was good and came quick, and atmosphere was chill. Just a heads up- the salsa has a pretty good kick to it!
This was our second time to Serrano’s, it has been quite a while since we were last here and we liked it again. Sat in the bar area, the salsa was hot whew, and got a house frozen marg and 2 big beers. All up to standards all good. For dinner got a beef enchilada plate and half order beef fajita nachos. The borracho beans were great and the meat in both entrees had great flavor! We had a great meal here about 43 bucks before tip, not bad.
Everything was a VIBE!! Food was amazing!!
Okay mexican place Ive had better
Dog friendly covered patio that stays open when other patios don't. Great tex-mex place. Friendly service. Drinks are effective.
This place used to be 3-star, 4 on a good day. The service has always been less than hospitable. Now, they've raised prices to pay for their recent renovation, and the service is much worse. The small bowl of plain queso pictured costs $14.50, $15.70 after tax. It was ok, but fairly watery. Definitely cut to make it go farther. Even by today's inflated standards, this is a total rip off. There are other local places to get a bigger bowl of better queso for $10. The tortillas included with one of our entrees came out 10 minutes before our food. By the time the food arrived, they were almost cold, and by the time the second tortilla was removed they were totally cold. The waitperson who took our order also delivered our food. But she didn't remember who ordered anything, even though she only had a couple tables. Normally I wouldn't include this in a review, perhaps she is new, or going through who knows what. But she was very standoffish and generally short, looking and walking away immediately even though we were still talking to her a couple times. Even this I wouldn't normally think twice about. But when the manager came by to presumably check up on how things were, he was speed walking, giving us a thumbs up, and didn't say a word. Then when leaving, we thanked a silent host who continued to remain silent and ignore us. The whole service experience was just disappointing. To top things off, when we received our bill, we were charged mandatory gratuity for parties of 6 or more, even though we only had a party of 5 and ordered 5 entrees. For the prices they're charging now, I think we'll drive a little farther for better food, better service, at the same price or even cheaper. El Monumento in Georgetown isn't any more expensive, and is a full notch or two above in all categories. It's sad what is becoming of hospitality and the service industry in this town. There's plenty of other choices, and no reason to subject yourself to this kind of service for the hard earned money they're charging.
Best Mexican food in Austin. Our family go to place.
