I always wanted to try this place, so I spontaneously invited my friend out for brunch. We got the bacon, omelette, bagel, Spanish latte, and cheese bread. Everything was very delicious and worth the price, we just personally didn’t enjoy the cheese bread too much, but our server was very kind and brought us an orange pastry. Thank you Ramon for the excellent & thoughtful service and the woman at the register, Malia. Keep up the good work!
The latte I had here was soooo great. Definitely worth the visit. The vibe here is a 10/10. Love the service as well
Ubuntu… A surprising stylish café to be found in that conservative Long Beach neighborhood, discovered by pure luck! We were lost… It takes a few minutes to understand how things work there: you stand in line (better to grab a menu, to make your choice) then you face the order taker/cashier, then you find an empty table and wait for food and beverage delivery. That system saves on wait staff, and was very efficient. The food is good and satisfactory, the lentil and fingerling potatoes with slices of hot chile were juicy, I would have personally preferred a poached egg instead the 7 minute boiled egg, nice fashionable pickled red onions. The bagel was large, soft, the cured salmon didn’t have a passport, so difficult to know where it came from but tasty. The avocado toast was strait forward, crushed ripe avocado on a crusty toasted grain bread topped by the same 7 minutes boiled eggs. The breakfast sandwich (pricey), ripe mashed avocado, bacon, cheese, fried egg sandwiched on a brioche bun. They offer (surprises) an array of FRENCH viennoiserie (croissants, Bordeaux cannelés, Britanny Kouign-amann, chocolatine…) the plain croissant looked good, but chewy (they may use strong bakers flour dough) the center doughy (not proofed enough or problem in the sheeting process). Only blemish, my drip coffee was so weak, I could see some grinds at the bottom of the cup!!! Will come again for lunch…
My boyfriend and I have breakfast here MINIMUM once a week. Any time we have friends or family visiting this is our go-to spot. We also have a 6mo old puppy and they have cute dog treats for him. The staff is always smiling and so lovely. It’s hard to go anywhere else for breakfast/brunch!
I hate Unbuntu because I don’t want to go to any other restaurant in Long Beach ☺️ Service is all time - the waiters and waitresses have taken the time to know my name, my girlfriends and even our puppy. Food is organic, their house made milk is a huge seller (and cheap compared to cafes) The atmosphere is amazing, 4-6 different pockets of seating, each with a different variation of seating, sun and views. I love the ordering system, for how well prepared the food is, it comes out incredibly fast. Unbuntu is the place I take 100% of my friends, family and visitors - I can’t say enough positive things about the restaurant and the staff. Abraços !
