Authentic. House made tamago and all the ingredients to make a legitimate futomaki… which is rare these days. Nigiri was tasty and the Japanese curry was delicious but I should have ordered it with a bit more heat. My least favorite were the spicy tuna and spicy scallop hand rolls - full disclosure: I alone at the nigiri and curry pictured, so it was likely that my eyes were bigger than my stomach. Definitely worth a stop.

This place is spectacular! The food is excellent and very fresh. The service was prompt and professional. We are from out of town and I was pleasantly surprised how amazing the food was.

I’ve actually gone there two times with my mother. The first time was OK the tempura was amazing. The chicken was dry and flavorless service was OK. However, there was really no one one in there. The second time we went was horrendous. This time we opted for the salmon, dry flavorless again tempura was great service was atrocious. There’s only one server and she is rude when she gets overwhelmed I told her I didn’t like the edamame because it was cold I like mine hot with sea salt she said “ we do not do it that way “ she was very curt and I asked her to remove it off my bill. She refused and said she would heat it up and set it out loud over the restaurant. “ She wants it warmed up” I had also needed a few things like some teriyaki sauce and some more hot tea and she kept walking around me so she didn’t have to walk by my table for about 20 minutes I approached her and she got really rude with me. At this point. I just wanted my check …. Also my mother who is not well asked her if bathroom door was locked and it was just too heavy for her to open and she got really snotty with her as well and in a rude way told her To push the door open …I can handle rude but not to my ailing mother. I have no tolerance for people like that

Yamato is our favorite sushi restaurant in the Tucson area. The quality of the fish is always top notch and the sushi chef is meticulous in his preparation. Dining here is always an enjoyable experience. The seating area is small, so reservations are recommended. The dining area is bright with a relaxed feel but you'll be focused on the flavors too much to be overly critical of your surroundings. The Chirashi is always made with a nice selection of fish. I highly recommend the cured salmon that the chef makes in-house. We also ordered the Hamachi Kama during one visit, which was also excellent.
