The issue I have is that they do not accept call in orders, Except if they know you. I have experienced this twice. I have been a regular customer for over 30 years and I do not appreciate that the workers will take a call in order from their friends but not other customers. Today was my last day supporting this restaurant.
I like this restaurant, my favorite neighborhood place for breakfast in Chicago. Like going to moms house. They used to have all booths since covid they changed to tables, which took away some of the welcoming feelings. But I like it just the same. Great breakfast home fries and biscuit.
So I haven't eaten here in a long time, the place hasn't changed but the food did. I ordered the steak skillet, it was more potatoes than steak. The ratio between the two should of been at least half and half. I swear the pandemic has messed up the restaurant industry. It's either poor quality/quantity of food, poor service or the gratuity.
The food was delicious, I had the t bone steak which was cooked medium as I request it, the grits were creamy and the biscuit was soooo good, as well as their cream of chicken noodle soup. I also tasted the salmon croquettes which were amazing. However the atmosphere, well the place is n older restaurant that has not been updated and is ok, but the lady at the counter was super rude, kept making disrespectful comments which we ignored because we were there to eat. Our waitress was super sweet and attentive, although the comments on how much food we ordered were uncalled for. I know I’m fat and I’m here to eat, not to be judged! So if you do get food from here, I would suggest order to go.
