It has been at least 15 years since we last dined at Red Tracton's Steakhouse. This used to be our special date night haunt or a favorite lunch spot prior to the races. After our long hiatus we were treated by friends to a birthday dinner complete with wine, food, laughter and lots of memories. Service was excellent. Our server was Anna and she had a beautiful personality that contributed to a wonderful evening. We began our feast with Red's famous onion strings. I don't know how many onions sacrificed their lives for this starter but there was enough to feed the restaurant. I moved on to the lobster bisque and my wife the Tracton Salad. The bisque was somewhat as remembered but the Tracton Salad was lacking the signature Green Goddess dressing and for $16 for a small bowl fell short of expectations. For dinner I had the Top Sirloin and my wife the Sandabs. She seemed to enjoy the sandabs but for me the top sirloin was almost too tough to cut through or even chew. And, everything seemed to lack seasoning. That is unusual for a steakhouse as most pride themselves in delivering well seasoned food. For dessert we were offered a few sweets in which I picked their version of the lava cake. It was good and also a nice gesture on behalf of our hostess to comp it. We brought our own wine, corkage fee is $30 a bottle and Anna was nice enough to decant and also strain for sediment. We look forward to returning in the near future but will try other options for our dishes.
Prime rib bites are the most unique steakhouse item I’ve had- delicious
We needed a spot for a nightcap after a show at the Sound. They were more than accommodating. The piano man was the best, we all danced and had a grand time. The staff here is amazing and the patrons are an eclectic mix of fun.
Great food at a great location...
Excellent service and good food, but idiotically expensive and very noisy.
Denny’s food with an extra zero added to the price. Skip the food honestly. Just get a drink at the bar and walk down to Pamplemousse instead. Been here multiple times over the past ten years and remember the food being pretty good. But now it seems like quality has gone downhill big time. I will not be back. Waitstaff is great. The valet thing is ridiculous. The restaurant needs new ownership and a major reshuffle in the kitchen. Cannot recommend a single dish and definitely not worth $100 a person. It’s a shame really.
Nothing special and absolutely too expensive compared to other steakhouses, not worth the monies.
