Cute little cafe, perfect for a brunch date. I had the waffle pizza and it was delicious!! Served with the cutest little glass syrup bottle, and the perfect blend of sweet and savory. Dietary restrictions: Great vegetarian and vegan options.

The best gluten free pancakes I’ve ever had. Service can be slow, but staff is kind and hard working. Can also order Door Dash for delivery! Dietary restrictions: Great for gluten free / celiac. Eat there frequently and have never gotten sick.

Saturday 1/13/2024 - My family and I recently visited Lucy's Cafe for breakfast. The reservation was easy to make via text messages, required 6 and more. The ambiance was great, and the food definitely lived up to our expectations. My nephew, the Birthday Boy, is a vegan and wanted to have delicious chocolate chip vegan pancakes. I Googled for a vegan breakfast place and stumbled upon Lucy's Cafe. Read reviews and decided to give it a try as we did to many other restaurants claimed to have vegan options. But Lucy's Cafe by far was excellent and did genuinely served vegan pancakes. My nephew enjoyed the food so much that he requested second order of pancakes. And french toast to go. We had an Amazing experience. Loved the coffer cups. Marty was our server and he did an excellent job accommodating us. We will definitely tell our friends and will visit again for the grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup. Looked yummy! Thank you Lucy's Cafe

I went here last weekend and was not impressed with the food. I ordered the California Benedict and an orange juice. The hollandaise tasted like most overly processed pre packaged or powdered hollandaise mix that I could easily buy at the grocery store. The eggs also smelled and tasted like low quality eggs. When the dish first arrived all I could notice at first was how bad the eggs smelled. The California Benedict costs $15 before tax. For $15 I would expect the food to be much higher quality. It's also a vegetarian restaurant, why are the eggs that are being purchased/provided by the restaurant such low quality? Save your money and go elsewhere, I spent over $40 here just to be served below average, low quality food. I gave two stars instead of 1 because my sister enjoyed her grilled cheese and I thought the side potatoes were good. However being able to make a grilled cheese and side of potatoes as a restaurant is anything but impressive.

Hostile customer service. I came in with my infant in a stroller this morning. When I walked in, no one acknowledged me at all even though the restaurant was half empty. No big deal, so I went to sit down by the window because it seemed to have a place to tuck the stroller away. First, the waiter loudly called across the restaurant “ma’am, do you NEED to be near the window?” as if I had walked across some invisible velvet rope. I said no, I don’t “need” to be by the window (admittedly with a little attitude in response) and he said can you sit over there so you’re not in the way with all that stuff? Again, I had a stroller - as many people in Roscoe Village at 9am on a Sunday have. That’s why I chose an almost empty restaurant in a kid-friendly neighborhood. I sat down and parked the stroller and he took away 3 of the water glasses from the table. I said “oh, actually can I have two of those back please? I’m meeting someone.” He said “you need to learn to communicate. We have policies” and I was super confused because I thought asking for the glasses was me communicating and I had no idea what policy he was talking about- especially because he had never asked how many were coming (again, no one had seated me). I felt like everyone was staring at us because he was being openly hostile. I said “is there a reason you’re angry with me?” Because he was dripping with condescension. He said “I’m not angry, you’re just annoying.” I was shocked and I said “if I’m annoying, maybe I should leave?” And he said “yeah I think you should.” So then my friend and I and our babies went and found another place to eat - Kitch’n - and they welcomed us and even helped me get the stroller inside without asking. Ultimately I have no idea what policy he was referring to or what I did to make him so angry. The only thing I can think is that I didn’t wait to be seated, but there is no hostess and no sign saying please wait to be seated and I wasn’t acknowledged when I came in. Another thing is that I had a hard time with the stairs and the stroller, and a very kind customer jumped up to help me. I was thanking them a lot at one point and I wonder if that worker thought I was being passive aggressive. It definitely wasn’t my intention, I just really appreciated the hand.
