My parents were from Guatemala, so this place is like a touch of family. I opened the packet of thick tortillas, thicker than you get at Mexican places, and immediately thought of mom. They came with my caldo de gallina, a deeply flavored and garlicky broth, with half an avocado and rice on the side, just like home. I wish the chicken breast on the side had been more moist, though. It's probably better to just leave the parts in the broth. My date had the carnitas breakfast, and he loved the pickled spicy relish on his rice and beans, but the meat was flavorful but did taste like it had been around for a while. But everyone was kind, the place is brightly lit though humble. It was just like being at home with my parents.
