Let me start by saying this a favorite restaurant. Today was a service embarrassment. I hope y'all improve. I am willing to come back and adjust this review. 1. No Ac. We walked in, and it was not super cold. Its a heat wave here in SoCal, with a flex alert so I figured they were just setting the AC to 78 and AC would kick on (and they had just opened). Temperature was quickly 84. It was so hot the ice melted in our glass. If I had been told by staff I'd have happily sat on the patio ( cooler). Also after I asked about the temp, they said the AC was broken (no offer to move outside - in spite of open tables). I don't know how you open a restaurant in a heat wave with no, AC and no fans. Way to improve: buy fans, let your customers know in advance the AC is broken, offer to let us sit on the patio when we complain its warm. 2. 25 min in after ordering appetizers still had not come, we hungrily watched a table that came in after us get their food. I flagged down the server for another table. Another 5 minutes elapsed, no update. Finally the appetizer arrived. No apology from the server. Way to improve: Check on the table, let us know the food is coming! 3. Service was very slow, we only know why b/c we heard other wait staff tell other tables. Finally 45 min in our waitress told us the kitchen was backed up. This was odd because the restaurant was not full! Way to improve: Make sure all the staff know the basics of good service. I'd maybe expect this at Denny's..well actually Denny's is pretty quick.. 4. My food came out, my wife's fried rice came out, but not her dish. Was told her dish would be out soon. 20 minutes went by, no food. Waitress had not been by until 20 min in, and did not explain what happened, but offered to just write off the cost of my wife's food. So I ended up awkwardly eating while my wife went hungry. Ya'll failed at the most basic function of a restaurant, feeding us. Way to improve: Mistakes happen, just be up front tell us there was mix up. Ask the kitchen to make the dish next and absolutely check up on your table. Certainly don't let a table sit awkwardly with one dish wondering whats going on. W's Management - please improve. We would love to come back. I hope by then staff are better trained on how to properly wait tables, and operate a restaurant.
This place is incredible. The food is amazing, the prices are very reasonable, and the portions are nicely sized.
