Virtue Restaurant

I'm out for a Sunday drive with my wife. I grew up on the south side of Chicago; I enjoy Hyde Park, the museum, and restaurants in the area. While walking down 53rd Street, my wife suggested we enter a nice restaurant with great reviews. We step inside the restaurant and notice at least five free spots at the bar and numerous seats available for dinner. We asked the woman at the front desk (who happened to be highly condescending) if we could grab a drink at the bar, and she replied we could only sit at the bar at 8:30 p.m. Now granted, it's about 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. This was an odd response to a simple request. Nevertheless, I've never been so rudely treated at any restaurant worldwide; believe me, I've traveled. This was highly embarrassing to my wife and me (we've been married 37 years). Stay away from this establishment or go across the street to Pizza Capri; it has excellent service and food. Or just go to Gibson Italia, a great bar with exceptional service and great views.

I will never eat here even though the reviews are great and the food looks scrumptious I applied for the same position or more and never got the chance while the job is still hiring i have the qualifications I live 10-20 minutes away I WANNA BE INTERVIEWED BY THE OWNER

Rog is an excellent hostess.

The food here is wonderful. What I don't like about the plays is that they add on a 3.5% surcharge to every ticket. They explain on the menu that it is so that they can pay their staff benefits. As profitable as this restaurant must be, they have no business charging me an extra 3 and 1/2% to go to this restaurant. It is also coincidental, perhaps, that restaurants have to pay 3% surcharges if you use a credit card. It makes one think. There is also a 90 minute limitation on how long you can be at your table. I don't know about you, but quite often when I am out with friends I need more than 90 minutes to enjoy a meal and cocktails. The food the staff are wonderful. The atmosphere is a little bit cramped and noisy. But the food is very very expensive.

Service took quite some time but food was exceptionally good!! Waitress/bartender was very nice. Dined at the bar for a date, good experience! Go during the day!

Everything about this place was amazing. I took my girlfriend here for her birthday dinner and the entire experience was AMAZING! We had the most tender short rib and the most moist lamb I've ever tried. I also had a non achololic drink that was phenomenal. Our server, Ethan, was such a pleasure we told him we are going to specifically request him when we come back and we will! Overall 5 star in my book

Always amazing food, drinks and service! Absolutely love going to Virtue... make your reservations... you won't regret it!
