Ordered their Monday Special pastas through toaster for take out. The “penne a la viga” was described as chicken breast stuffed with broccoli, spinach, feta, fresh tomatoes, served with marinara penne or rice. However, as you can see below i got a white sauce and ham as meat. I don’t really like ham but the pasta wasn’t terrible. It was VERY salty though. The Mac and Cheese was simply alright, did not stand out to me. In a previous catering corporate order however i had their lasagna and it was pretty good. Just didn’t like these two dishes.
The food here made me sick. Seems like hygiene is a persistent issue here. City should intervene.
Prior to the great pandemic of 2020, Viga on Pearl street in Boston used to by my go-to place for lunch. Great sandwiches, awesome Chicken Parm calzones and decent salads. Service was always quick and prices were decent. Sadly, after the pandemic the place went down the tubes in a major way. They now have minimal staff working there, which can cause long wait times. More times than not, the staff is busy making large corporate takeout orders, ignoring customers waiting in lines. Yes, I said lines. There are 4 lines in this place. One line for salads, one for sandwiches, one for hot dishes and final line is for payment. The lines aren't really labeled so people tend to stand in the wrong line for some time before realizing that they need to move. This arrangement is ridiculous. Once someone orders their food, there isn't a place for them to wait so the front of the line(s) gets very messy. I still go to Viga but very seldom. I only go when I have a craving for a some form of a chicken parm, be it a sandwich or calzone, which I have to call and order an hour earlier. Viga, you used to be great, but not any more.
I wish as required by food service law employees to change gloves after using the registry keypad. If they don't do at front imagine what happens in the back. Better don't go back there.
Stopped in for breakfast. Wow. This sandwich shop gets in done in the AM. Killer omelettes, super nice guys at the counter. A real surprise.
