Sorry for the lengthy review here - a lot to unpack. TDLR: There are a lot of great coffee places in Ridgewood, this one isn't one of them. Events from the last 2 years: - One barista gave me an iced latte with a giant iceburg of ice in it and maybe 1/3 coffee. she handed me the lid on the side and said " sorry about that! it'll melt " - This happens with hot drinks too, they don't fill the cup all the way and will leave 1 -1.5in space. - I found a cigarette by the front register area, and because it was in a place a young kid could easily grab it i gave it to the guy working to toss it. The barista must have placed it there or something because they seemed upset that i was worried about this. Not sure, but it was odd. Biggest qualm with Topos (1 and 2) is that I've never seen a non white employee at either location. they support good queer + POC literature but what does that matter if the space is only really welcoming to white straight folks and they are hiring white people only?
Great bookstore and cafe!
Topos added its tables and chairs back to the interior after a while without them, and it's back to being a relaxing afternoon hangout spot where you can plop down with a book and coffee
Topos rocks and OK is your guy for a rocking time!
