Consistently a great experience.
@tokio_denver was worth the hype. Their tonkotsu ramen was so flavorful, and I love the different veggies that came with the ramen. I want to go back and try their curry ramen next
I've been here about 5 times since Tokio opened. Great food, great ambiance, love the free parking garage option. Long wait, no reservations accepted, no waiting area, crowded. My reason for posting today is portion size. Portions are getting smaller and smaller. Last week my friend ordered an entree sized cod and got two silver dollar sized chunks in a massive bowl with a huge banana leaf as a side. Btw that's inedible. No rice. No veg. Just a cat sized portion of food. My cremoso diablo barely filled the bowl I was brought. Check out the food pictures on google (the website, the menu, etc) of the cremoso diablo. Now deduct an inch of ramen from the bowl before eating it, and you will have an accurate idea of what you'll receive. It used to fill the bowl and be two dollars cheaper. The cod used to be an actual cut of fish with a side so the human eating it was full afterwards. It was almost comical how small the cod dish was y'all. I don't think I'll ever forget the size of that portion or how disappointed my polite friend was. Since I've been here a few times over the years I know it wasn't always like this. Prices have gone up a little and portions have gone down a lot. Perhaps it's because of outside pressure like an insane rent for the location, in which case I say, Tokio! Adams county could love to have you. Join us in the nearby land of affordability. Dietary restrictions: Absolutely no gluten free alternatives for ramen. No glass noodles available. You just don't get any ramen at the ramen shop if you're GF or GI.
The food was pretty good, I wasn't especially blown away by anything. Cool atmosphere for sure, and it meets the craving for Japanese food. The Umepon and the chocolate sake are delicious. The chopsticks being super cheap and the self serve water jugs being made out of plastic kind of detract from the intimate setting they seem to be trying to go for. Good place for a date, but definitely wouldn't call it one of the "must visit" spots in Denver
I've dined at this Japanese restaurant several times and have had a mixed experience. The ramen and sushi are generally good, and they offer a nice selection of Japanese beers, which I appreciate. However, I've noticed that the food quality can be hit or miss, depending on which chef is on duty. While the flavors are usually spot-on, the portion sizes are a bit small considering the price. Despite this, I really enjoy the atmosphere of the place. It's got a great vibe that keeps me coming back.
Ask for Jade and your meal will be great server and personality! Food and drinks came in a timely fashion.. The environment called for great conversation over some of the best Japanese sushi’s and curried chicken rice!
