I ordered a small hot latte and was charged for a medium one. I gave the cashier $20 and he gave me back just under $10. When I returned in the afternoon, I realized that I had not received the correct change. I was more than sure I didn't waste any more money that morning. The new cashier charged me $6.80 for the medium one. I was so confused. Be sure to count your money before walking away from the counter. They are not welcoming either. Both times I was greeted with a cold stare and every time I said thank you no one responded or smiled. The coffee is decent, but not if you plan on taking my hard-earned money. Update: February 6, 2024 Now their small hot latte costs $6.80. Make sure you take your time and know the price of the item before ordering. It seems like the staff is taking the difference and putting it in their own pockets. Do people still do that?
I love this place. I first started coming in because of the music. Yeah, the coffee, the food was great, but it was really the music. They played Tortoise. Great, chill music. It was perfect. Now they play this: "Everyone Nose" by Brett Allen and Bombs Away. Go ahead! Look it up! Does this sound like good chill relaxing studying coffee shop vibes?! Unbelievable. I'm so frustrated. I will NEVER be coming back. Wow, from my favorite coffee shop to a place I hate. How about that?
There is an actual short order cook that makes your egg offerings fresh to order. Robust coffee, top notch. Humongous, moist pastries. Fun employees and it's obvious they like each other and working there. I go out of my way to come here, each time I visit NYC.
Obligatory tip requested....after surly service and not very clean restroom.
There is a pattern of closing an hour early and then acting like they are doing you a favor by serving you.
