Good food Sat outside but could still see sports on TV Nice place, short on service
The bruschetta was the worst I’ve ever had! Who serves bruschetta on crostini bread? The tomatoes were ice cold, last time I checked bruschetta is supposed to be served hot on a toasted crusty piece of bread with NO onions. Sliced bread in triangles so all the pieces fall off is not how you make bruschetta!! Hey chef, maybe YouTube how to make bruschetta! Plus $13 is obviously Balboa Island prices for 4 tiny triangles of bread.
Our Server Robert was great. Food was good but not great. Prices are right - loved sitting on the patio.
We've eaten at the Village Inn on Balboa Island several times BEFORE the pandemic and it was fine. We went again today, arriving around 4:30 pm. We got bowls of New England clam chowder with garlic bread, then we walked around window shopping and looking at the lights. The food was good but we had to chase down our bill to pay, which wasn't good. I imagine plenty of people have just left without paying ... no one appears into be "minding the store", as the saying goes. Then we used the restrooms before we left. EWWWWW !!!! If a restaurant doesn't keep their restrooms clean, what is happening in the KITCHEN ??? The floor appeared to have NOT been scrubbed or mopped for MONTHS, possibly YEARS. The white tile and grout were FILTHY. No one is monitoring for cleanliness. There were wads of toilet paper stuck to the ceiling - I kid you not! I physically got queasy after using their restroom. My thoughts turned to their kitchen. How filthy and disgusting are their food prep areas??? Photos are worth a thousand words so I'm allowing them to tell this story ... FOR THE HEALTH OF YOUR CUSTOMERS, CLEAN YOUR DISGUSTING BATHROOMS !!!
Good place, but fairly average
