The entire staff is lovely! The food was on par and I had an amazing time during my visit.
Went for afternoon tea, it was one of the best lunches of my life!
Went for afternoon holiday tea with my girlfriends on a Sunday 4:30 reservation. Leo was very friendly and attentive. We selected for 3 regular menu and a vegetarian option. I liked that there was a separate menu for the regular and a vegetarian. Leo checked if all the items on the menu were ok for us to consume. Thank you The Lobby for being inclusive about food allergies and dietary restrictions. When the food came, all vegetarian dish came on a separate tower so my friend was able to enjoy on her own. Here's what's included with $150 experience: -tea (classic, herbal infusions, or premium Asian) -glass of Tattinger Brut Champagne -tea pastries: wreathe, gingerbread man, chestnut candle stick, red velvet Santa's belt, and cranberry pate au choux. I'm not a big fan of gingerbread/peppermint "winter" season flavor type of person so personally, I didn't like the pastries. -savory: roasted beef sandwich, cucumber sandwich, organic egg sandwich, lobster & shrimp sandwich, and winter kale sundried tomato quiche. My favorite was the quiche. -traditional and cranberry citrus scones. Typically I find scones dry and not so tasty but these were good. I went for a 2nd time with a friend and a child (girl) on a Saturday for 2:30 reservation. The lighting was much brighter. There was Mr. and Mrs. Clause for free photography. It was magical. Ray was very attentive and professional. $85 child's menu included: -sandwiches -sweet treats -hot chocolate Sweet pastries were very aesthetically appealing. Servers were great. I would definitely recommend holiday tea for the experience.
Excellent everything. Absolutely beautiful inside.
Great holiday venue to spend a brunch with the family. Decorations added the right amount of holiday cheer. Making this a holiday tradition in Chicago.
From the moment you arrive you are being judged. Unless you are stepping out in a chauffeured Navigator dressed head to toe in Dior you will not be looked at or acknowledged by the doorman or front desk. Please note though, if you are you will be provided every luxury known to man. Once inside, the hotel is beautifully decorated for the holiday season. On the floor of the restaurant it is extremely confusing as to where to check in. They have a large desk at the end of the hall that would seem to be the check in but it’s not. They have a very hidden glass podium unmarked that you wait to check in. I had made special holiday reservations over two months ago with a request to sit by the tree. They sat us in the back by the service station. Claiming all the other tables were reserved! So what was my reservation not a VIP? Finally after 20 minutes they moved us to a window spot overlooking the ice rink. The service was slow, we were often forgotten about and when we finally got our food it was cold! The pasta dish was very average and lacked flavor. I had very high hopes and was disappointed. You could definitely tell the wait staff has their priorities set on the customers that appeared in a higher tax bracket. This included their host and management staff as well if not more so. One should know you should NEVER judge a book by its cover. You never know who’s watching or who’s family member you could be serving. Very disappointing
