The Driskill Bar

The roasted brussels were absolutely delicious!

A must in Austin I would really really like to give the Driskill five stars, but devastatingly find I cannot Reason 1: Despite the grandeur of this establishment, it still has us using QR codes to view the menu - in an unexpected throwback to the pandemic. Given that most of our party was elderly and either couldn’t work out how to read a QR code or could barely see the letters on their phone screens without donning less than fetching glasses, this presented a certain challenge to our evening. Reason 2: The serving staff. It was challenging to get service at our table or to get hold of a drink. This eventually led to myself tapping the shoulder of a lady in a yellow blouse - who turned out to be the manager - to ask whether one might be served. Drinks arrived most promptly after that! I must say that, for the most part, our cocktails were not exceptional - although they did contain plenty of alcohol! Sipping just one of them will have chortling like an Irishman until well past 10pm. The pretzel was, however, divine! What must recommend this bar to everyone visiting the city is, of course, its location! Drink and dine in the most fantastic splendour!

Very cool bar but service is slow and ineffective. Told to “take a seat and we’ll take good care of you,” and then could not get anyone to wait on us. Not worth the frustration.

Good drinks, live band was awesome and very classy. Vibes are awesome. Service was great. Can get crowed, get there early.

Amazing bar with live music (well at least on Thursday when we stayed here). They have superb choice of cocktails with the Southern-tex-mex influence: try their signature margarita! We ordered lamb (!!) sliders, waygu beef (!!!) burger and the wings. The wings are not like what you expect - simple buffalo, they are smoked and glazed. omg - they are probably the best bar wings I ever tried. pic is attached
