Amazing the band that played were adorable.

My wife and I were visiting NYC with our 16 y.o. son, happened to be staying in a hotel across the street from The Cutting Room. Had no idea what it was, but we set out one evening to find some food and music and decided to check it out. The host was super friendly, and after hearing the band line-up that night, 4 different rock cover bands, and seeing we could get food as well, we stayed. The venue is really interesting inside, dark, with a very cool stage, electric guitar chandelier, and a good mix of tables and standing room near the bar (we did not check out the upstairs balcony). Our server was very attentive, and the food and cocktails were great. The bands were really good, playing a range of classic rock covers like they meant it. Great fun. My son noticed that the next night, the venue would be featuring a Yes tribute band; As a huge Yes fan from the 70s, one of the few positive traits I passed on to my son, we were both excited at the prospect of going back. My son's plans made it impossible for him to get to the venue in time, so we thought it would not work. I called The Cutting Room and spoke to a server named Danielle. She was amazingly friendly and helped us figure out a plan so we could be seated for dinner and our son could join us at our table when he arrived. She even reserved a table for us to ensure this would work. The evening was fantastic! My steak was cooked to perfection again, just like the night before, and even my wife, who was not a Yes fan, had a great time. There are so many things about this place that are just right: Great music, cool decor, not too big, not too small, tables if you want to order really good food, and a big open space and bar if you want to stand and move while taking in the music. Staff work really hard there, and the result is fully satisfying and memorable experience that was definitely a highlight of our NYC visit. Next time in NYC, we are definitely coming back!

Always a good time

Nice spot. Watched a show. Had a nice time but was very disappointed before leaving after overhearing a waitress question a customer about the tip that was left. Asked if everything was OK because she felt her service was really good. That is unacceptable. It may be hard for some people to even go out and have a good time nowadays, let alone leave a big tip. A tip was left but obviously not good enough for this waitress. This was disappointing to hear. I would have corrected it alright. I would have removed the entire tip. Sorry but not cool and not acceptable!

I understand how hard it is to work them late shifts as a server but this place at this time had no more than maybe 40-50 ticket holder customers for a 10pm show which were seated in small groups, my group were 7. Amanda our server with the help of several others was friendly and attentive that much I do give her credit. The bill starts with a suggestion of 20%-25%-30% tip. Unconsciously we gave her based $25 tip instead of the recommend $30 tip. Amanda very aggressively went after my buddy asking if he made a mistake bill, she followed by buddy asking him to check the bill and also went to his wife as well, Amanda adamant about the extra $5. Amanda felt she was entitledto the extra $5, so what my group did was we gave her $60 tip in order to bring closure to a place we will never return. We truly enjoyed the atmosphere we really did but that experience really was unnecessary. So please be careful with Amanda folks and double check your tip

A few things you need to know. If you're seeing a 9:30pm show you cannot get there early to eat. There's likely another show. The guy at the door is completely rude and not helpful at all. So you line up at 9pm and wait outside for 45 min to be let in. If you don't have a table on the lower level then stand at the bar because upstairs you won't see much. The food is fine but you won't get any until about 10:30pm. The server was very rude. The band was great, but nothing else was

The actual venue is awesome and has great vibes. This review is about their customer service. I tried inquiring about possible renting this venue out for a private Event and this guy Ethan picked up. He was either high or has zero communication skills (both?) . Gave me the run around and didn't answer any questions. Extremely odd behavior. It was so bad I literally thought I was getting pranked. I can not reccomend.
