The atmosphere was amazing and they were so nice. The chef did a phenomenal job on the food. We had bolognese, California pizza and a breakfast pizza. We stopped here on a whim and we were so glad we did. I’m from Houston, but the girls here locally said they will be here more often. Highly recommend for bringing your customers if you’re in Sales.
Had dinner on a Thursday night. From the first person I encountered(Rose) - I knew it was going to be a good time. My server(can't remember her name)she was awesome as well. Food - AMAZING. I had the mussels - Holy Crap - GOOD!!! Gnocchi with short ribs - Bussin!! I'll be back soon!!
Yes, I’m have been going to the tavern for last 5 years, I worked in the restaurant next door, my last visit I did not see anyone I knew is working, the service was very good, the manager is not very friendly, I asked him for a Grana Padano Cheese and he didn't know what it is ? ,it a Italian Restaurant ,I know for sure they had that cheese before, I don't know if they have it, the manager doesn't know that this cheese exists or they had it and no longer have it, he need to smile a little more and he need to change his face, to be happy to work in a nice, I will be back but to downtown.
Great dining experience! Carbonara was fantastic!
You’ll wait quite some time for the food. There will be staff on their phones or cutting lemons at tables or doing paper work. They’ll forget your drinks for 40 minutes and fail to course out your food so it all shows up at once. There will be a seemingly endless parade of people wafting torn sheets of paper used to cover the tables. They’ll seat the only other patron in the restaurant directly next to you. They’ll demonstrate an exemplary failure at what it means to be servers in the service industry. The food will be wonderful, but you’ll have to decide if the failures of the front of house team deserve to reflect negatively on the wonderful food. Perhaps I’m to blame. Perhaps because a Monday dinner isn’t their “prime time” you get what you get.
Great location but everything else was mediocre - not planning to return
Started out ok. Went downhill like walking off a cliff. They didn't bring out one of our dishes at a table of 4. None of the staff noticed. After about 10 minutes we mentioned to a different server ( ours was m.i.a.)that we were missing a dish. Several minutes later( between 5 and 8 minutes) our server said that it didn't get rung in and it went to a different table and they would see if they could get it to us? After another 5 to 8 minutes we watched the manager take it to a different table, look confused, so we let her know it was at our table. No apology, or even recognition that anything had happened. Nothing was done on the bill. Also our bottle of sparkling water was not chilled and were not offered ice. It seemed like the staff WERE NOT A TEAM. I never tip zero but I gave the worst tip that I could. I have been in the foodservice industry a long time and this service was bad at best. Food was good( not amazing) except what they call focaccia is thin pizza dough crust.
Among the best Italian in Austin. Cacio pepe is a good bellwether and this was very, very good.
