Tajima (the chain) has officially lost my business for good. Look, the ramen is still tasty - don't get me wrong. The spot still looks cool - but let's be real, I'd rather great food in a shady joint than a mediocre food experience in a happening spot. It is becoming more and more difficult to justify their ridiculous prices nearly $18 dollars for some bowls if you don't want any additions. On top of that they've full restricted customizations and the standards are stingy AF (see images). My daughter and I don't eat noodles (although we LOVE the flavor of a great ramen). We ordered a couple bowls of Ramen (Chicken Cream and Veg) at $15.50 a pop. I asked if we could sub out the noodles for extra veggies to make it similarly hearty and filling. The response was we can sub, we can remove and then you can add the rest at an additional cost. Man, I don't know, paying upwards of $20 for a bowl of soup, albeit tasty, seems insane. We accepted and just got it without the noodles. For some reason, our ramen came deconstructed, which let us see exactly what we were getting in our Ramen. Tajima has gotten far too big and popular for its britches. Their markedly higher prices, inflexibility and lack of customer centricity have cost them my loyalty for good. There are a number of outstanding Ramen places in and around San Diego, most of which are more accommodating of non-standard diets. Check out the images to see the three little pieces of chickens and side of shrubs in the chicken ramen. Tajima, we out.
We can in at closing. They were luckily Ok with it!!! The food is bomb!!! Get the spicy sesame one if you want flavor and spicy. If you want a regular traditional tonkatsuu do the tajima one!! Their ramen is thin but it’s delicious. I never eat the pork chase but theirs was DELICIOUS!!! Cheers to the chefs for whipping it up so late for us. Yum.
