Sushi Ryusei

Premium omakase has numerous delights at a very reasonable price point- hairy crab, snow crab, abalone to just name a few. Botan ebi was delicious, the head fried perfectly. Japanese uni luscious and sweet. Spicy scallop handroll was fabulous. Two minor feedback- when explaining the fish, use both Japanese and English names, sometimes we non-Japanese do remember the Japanese names! Secondly, if someone is ordering sushi a la carte, please offer the choice to let the chef apply the soy sauce! My wife and I, I had omakase and she did not, and it was a bit weird she had to put her own soy and mine was already perfect. In any case, I highly recommend this place for omakase and sushi!

Best sushi I have had in many, many years!

Came here with a friend and we both had the sushi and sashimi omakase. Overall I was happy with the food. The fish was fresh and some of the sushi pieces came with interesting flavor. Four star as i didn’t get the wow factor.

Best sushi I've ever had. Be sure to try the fatty tuna. Absolutely worth it. Dessert was just as good. Fried ice cream and creme brulee were the perfect treat to the end of a delightful meal. Service was very good. We stayed until close and they cleaned absolutely everything.

Sushi Ryusei is akin to discovering a rare gemstone in the concrete jungle that is NYC. I love coming here for many reasons beyond the fact that I live next door (believe me it’s a double-edged sword to be merely steps away - otherwise I’d be there every night they’re open if I could). I’m certain their entire menu is tasty but I can only speak to the omakase experience, which by far has been the best I had in the city. The owner is obviously passionate and proud of his business, as he should be. He’s always present, ensuring that everything runs smoothly to the level of perfection. If you’re looking for an authentic omakase experience in an intimate venue with a friendly and familiar staff, then search no further. This spot is the winner!
