Had a long layover in Miami and decided to try Sushi Maki for dinner. I ordered the shrimp tempura and two rolls - the Dancing Eel and the Two Timing Tuna. The shrimp tempura was okay, the coating a little thicker then I'm used to for tempura, but the Vegis they include were rough. It had a thick onion ring, large cauliflower and broccoli florets. They were so large they released too much moisture during the frying process and the coating was soggy. The rolls were okay, nothing I would go back for though. The two timing tuna was supposed to have spicy tuna as part of the roll, but there was no spice at all. Service on the other hand was amazing, even when I told my server that they didn't need to replace the tempura as I was full and just wanted my check, she brought me a piece of key lime pie as an apology - and the pie was delicious. I know many will say, well what did you do expect at an airport.... I get it, but since I was at an airport on a coast known for good seafood, I expected more.
Fast, adorable and nice staff. Dragon roll with extra eel sauce slapped. 10/10 this is officially my MIA pit stop, because asian food is superior.
Wife and I shared a dragon roll, while she got the "blazing noodles" and I got the tonkotsu ramen. In short, this was the worst meal that I can remember in at least 365 days. The dragon roll was okay, equivalent to a cheap sushi buffet roll. The ramen however was impressively terrible. I paid additional $2-3 Dollars for the seafood option, which included two small shrimp that were completely unseasoned and a couple sticks of imitation crab. The broth had bits of undissolved powder floating all throughout that was probably the tonkotsu seasoning. I imagine that licking the outer sealed package of an instant ramen pack would be more flavorful. I don't want to take the time to recall so the things wrong with my wife's meal, suffice it to say, it was equally as bad. Finally, when the waitress collected our plates of partially eaten food, not a word was mentioned. I would expect if someone is paying $20ish for a meal and only eating 25% of it, shouldn't that raise some questions? But without a word our food was collected and a check for $70 was left in it's stead. Hunger is a better option than eating here.
Waiter Alejandro was extremely unprofessional. As I declined his recommendation to order the most expensive platter his attitude changed to nasty.
Muy bueno para comer en el aeropuerto algo decente y bien de precio
Don't get the ramen - worst ramen I've had in my life, I don't even know how you can mess up ramen like that. The pork was also super dry. Sushi was decent and definitely a better choice it you're coming here. Or go to another restaurant in the airport :)!
For a Airport restaurant it gets 5 stars. Ask for vegan menu. Decent choices.
Never have I ever had a better special fried rice… it’s just so yummy…. My compliments to the chef
What I experienced at this restaurant was about in 2018 tho. I ordered ramen and that was only food I wanted, but old Asian chef suddenly told me hey, Do you want Japanese sake? I said yes because I thought he’ll give it to me free. After I drank he poured it many times even though I didn’t say I want more. He charged me for sake and he said if you don’t pay call police. This whole experience deserves to scam. Even the waitress said sorry to me.
