Been going here for a few years, and their pastries are still as excellent as ever. They sell the best plain croissants in NYC: buttery but not greasy in the slightest bit, with a depth of flavor from slow fermentation that’s rarely found in other bakeries. Yes, they’re famous for opulent, over-the-top fillings, but those distract from the high quality croissant dough. I recommend getting the eclairs (oh so decadent!) if you crave the pastry cream fillings. Unlike croissants, eclairs exist almost solely as an excuse to eat pastry cream by the spoonful. They do this thing of putting not one but two fillings into each eclair. Their eclairs are best when they offer a sour flavor that week, as it balances out Supermoon’s slant towards being too sweet. They will deliver boxes of pastries to your doorstep (or available for pickup) if you reserve far in advance on their website. The pickup option can be substantial savings if you’re willing to freeze half the pastries.
