Been a while since we were here and absence does make the heart (and stomach) grow fonder! I went with the Triple Threat and it was amazing. Didn't expect it to go so well together. Paired with Apple BBQ sauce... Even better. Wife got the Pulled Brisket with all the fixins. Didn't try it (too full) but she loved it. Bartenders were very friendly and know their beers.
I ordered a slab of ribs and sides. I was disappointed with the ribs. The ribs needs to be cooked more, uncooked pork is not healthy. I'm just being honest, my second time going there each time i got the same results.
Went yesterday for St Patrick's Day/ friends 60th Birthday..Bar was EMPTY..( our first stop to eat of the night)we came in with a group of 14..2 from Canada 2 from Port Huron..none of them has ever been there before! The young man Bartender was the RUDEST WE ALL has ever had! I said what kind of tequila do you have..he said."it's not a tequila bar!" Then I said yay when our drinks finally game and he says" I can take it back!" Then walked away again!!Never asked if we all wanted another drink..we left and won't be back! Bad for the one's who has never been there! Missed out on really really great tippers as well!
Let's start with my only small complaint. Even with a handwritten sign on the adjacent storefront window explaining where the entrance is, the entrance door is still difficult to find as it still isn't clearly marked on the actual door. For anyone going here for the first time, the door, itself is a very ornate and medium brown very tall wooden door that does not even look like a door. Once you actually get inside though, it's definitely worth all the hassle. Now, let's get to the good part...the food. I ordered the Triple meat combo containing Baby back ribs, pulled pork, and beef brisket. It came with 2 sides and cornbread. For my sides, I chose Mac n cheese and baked beans. We also ordered the house made pork rinds with Slow's dry rub sprinkled on it. Everything was mouthwatering and delicious. They have 5 different BBQ sauces on the table. My grandmother and I both found the Apple BBQ sauce surprisingly good and ended up being our favorite sauce. There's metered parking out front and only cost one dollar for an hour. Be sure to check out Slow's when you're in the area.
Slow’s was so accommodating to our family of 6. 4 adults and 2 small kids. The wonderful service started with a phone call to the hostess, Tay, who went above and beyond to make sure we could get on a waiting list. So appreciated with hungry little ones. Then we had Julia as a server who as a Mom of 3 kids herself waited on us making sure that we had everything we needed and also put a rush of getting the kids meal started. After a long day of exploring the city the service and food so great and so appreciated! Thanks so much!
The brisket was dry. It was seasoned well but dry. Brisket is supposed to be tender and juicy, and shouldn't be hard to chew. I was disappointed as I traveled pretty far to try this place out, and I was super hungry too. I see they have good reviews so maybe I just went on an off day. The place did have a nice atmosphere, crowd is cool. Workers are friendly
