This is the most 3 star place you can imagine. Epitome of mediocre. It is a semi-famous spot, but it is also a regular Chinese restaurant…that costs 3 times as much as any other Chinese restaurant. The good—This is a neighborhood staple. You might see a famous person. For tourists going to a show at Lincoln Center this is probably a fun spot. But this place just serves very basic American-style Chinese food. It is not elevated versus any other Chinese place. Still very oily food. The interior is old and dirty. The bathrooms are gross. There a many places in Chinatown just like this that cost 1/3 the amount. Very expensive for what it is.
When I was a kid and my dad came back late from work I knew what we were going to be eating. This is the definition of comfort food for me. I try to visit every time I’m back in the city.
Had lunch there today . Choose your own adjective . Lunch special , one bowl of soup , one hot dish ( six shrimp plus 8 pea pods ) and desert ( canned leeches Nuts ). 37.00$ -Thirty Seven dollars . All mediocre . Place was empty while NY Phil was playing that afternoon. In NY where Chinese has been a staple for 100 years and a "HIGH ART " form , This place is an embarrassment and rip off. Any Chinese restaurant you could fall into even in this pricey neighborhood will be better. Try NY's China Town or Flushing in Queens or the local corner Hot Dog cart - you will surely do better
Do not trust their posted delivery times on Uber eats. They severely understate wait times for delivery. Then close the restaurant and cancel your order. Very unreliable.
I won't come here ever again. The person who took my to go order was really rude and they won't make any type of accomodation.
