Shells of Melbourne

I love this place! Easy relaxed atmosphere, friendly wait staff, and the best part....the food is fantastic! The specials are always a must as they are culinary delights. Would eat there weekly if I was in Melbourne every week.

We sat about 45 to one hour for someone to even come to our table. We were all so thirsty too.Finally got our order in and took another 20 minutes. Our waitress was overwhelmed with a lot of table. She ended up making up for some of the wait. Will never be back. And we got there at 2pm after lunch crowd. Got our food after 3pm

Fun and friendly service. Had the lobster prawn pasta dish and it was fantastic. Well priced and good portion.

The food was amazing and the staff was also very pleasant.

Try the New England clam chowder you can’t go wrong. All of there pastas are freshly made, abs the local fish is always fresh, when Cobia is in season it’s my fish of choice, also you can substitute any of the combo meals with a better quality one like grouper, avoid the Tilapia it’s a garbage fish. Update: 04/25/2022 Had the crab cakes loaded with jumbo lump crab meat, cooked perfectly. For a no chain restaurant you cant beat the consistency, always excellent Update, the food has gone from being good quality to absolute mediocrity. We dined at Shells last week the crab cakes where terrible and my senior mother got food poisoning the very same day and was hospitalized. My wife and I both had the Big Easy, 2 years ago it was absolutely amazing. Now it is just terrible, large chunks with no care in preparing it properly. Shells is typical low grade Florida seafood, nothing special. No baked goods, and a very boring menu. I suggest to the owners to visit a real new England seafood eatery and try something creative, like soft shelled crabs, seafood imperial and baked seafood dishes. Not that it matters a lot to us because after our last several visits we will not eat here again. I would also suggest to the owners to taste the food that's being served now...your employees have taken over your business and care not about the longevity of your restaurant.

I have to say that I have never been disappointed. I started going to Shells in Tampa. We went there anytime we wanted seafood. Oh how I wish they would open up in Georgia. I would drive any distance to have their dinners.

My family with a 3 year old and a 1 year old went there last night for dinner got there at 530. We waited 25 minutes to get seated. When we finally got seated it took 10 minutes for our server to come over and greet us. We figured we should put our food order in with the drinks at the rate it was already going. I ordered a beer and my wife ordered a margarita. After we placed our order it took 15 minutes to recieve our drinks. I know they were ready at the bar because I had to walk my 1 year old around because he was getting cranky and hungry. After 15 minutes we received our drinks. Food came out 35 minutes after we ordered and our waiter probably came to our table 4 total times thruought the whole dinner. I ordered the shrimp and grits. It was not very good at all it came out room temp the shredded cheese wasn't even melted and looked like it came from a bag of shredded cheese. I don't like to send food back but this was unacceptable. After I sent my room temp food back it took 6 minutes to get fresh food. Which leads me to believe our waiter just wasn't very attentive. I was extremely unsatisfied with Shell's. My family went there a year ago in December. Service and food was great then. I would not reccomend this resturant it has gone downhill since then. Mind you there was multiple tables with the same issue. Another table requested the check and it took the same waiter 15 minutes to bring it to them.
