Rise Over Run

My partner and I hoped to have brunch before leaving for the airport. Booked our reservation weeks in advanced. When we arrived they turned us away because of a private event. They claimed that the owners reached out, but I have no emails or calls indicating this.

We made a reservation for a friends birthday a week in advance— and Rise Over Run cancelled our reservation one hour before the event. You have to put down a credit card and you get charged if you cancel within 24 hours of the reservation as a customer, but the restaurant can cancel within an hour? We had already travelled to the city, that costs us as well! It’s unprofessional. I called back to ask about what had happened and they put me on perpetual hold purposefully too, which was a real kicker. Don’t plan your special events here, run away, don’t trust them.

2023/02/14 Vibe Service Fried Chicken with Biscuits Crispy Rice Mushroom Salad Pork Bao Hamachi We got seated on an awkward table where one seat was at the end of an oval/pill shaped sofa. They were trying to fit as many people as they could in doors, because it was raining, but there were open seats at better tables that they could've directed us towards. Portions small for the prices. Come for the views/vibe when it's not raining.

The highlight of the brunch was the bread basket. The descriptions of all the dishes sounded promising but the fried chicken was over fried. The krinkle fries with gravy was cold by the time it hit the table and was not krinkle fries just normal fries. The veggie omelette was good but not anything special. The view however and the ambience of the place is the winner here. Would suggest coming here for a drink but even they didn't come through with my drink order which I had asked for mezcal but received tequila instead. Perhaps next time?

Great atmosphere, good drinks, but the service was very poor all 3 times we came here.

My first night there I was able to enjoy a mock tail from their list of drinks. The next two days the staff preparing the drinks failed me with mocktails. The food was decent but I do wish they had more options. The host was very accommodating, waiters were kind and attentive.

Went on a rainy day for brunch and it was the perfect getaway for a warm dry rooftop experience. Food was served quickly and plentiful. We dined for over an hour at our table. Staff was attentive and friendly. Looking forward to returning.
