We mostly come for the atmosphere and friendly service, great cocktails, and awesome music. Unfortunately, the food tends to miss the mark. I really want to love it, but it seems to have declined over the years. If craving ramen, I would choose elsewhere. Please also beware of ordering ramen for takeout, as it comes cold, and with a long wait. Best experience is in-house.
This is a pricey ramen shop, but worth it. The dishes are innovative and the broth excellent.
decent ramen but it feels terribly overpriced. For $25 you would think they would throw in the egg. Broth flavoring was decent though nothing spectacular. Parking: very close to the rockridge bart where parking is plentiful in the evening
Veggie ramen was way too salty and we had to send it back. Beef ramen was fine, except for unattractive carrots. Only one ramen option with no pork/beef in it. Vegetarian options: Only one veggie ramen. Not even with tofu
Simply put, the Ramen Shop is definitely not the spot. We tried the Classic Shoyu ramen and we had pretty high hopes as we read reviews and noticed that it was pretty busy. The ramen was a disappointment - the flavor was lacking and was missing toppings (for the price they charged). It is definitely not a spot I'd recommend for those looking for a japanese ramen spot. Additionally, something to note: if you decide to go, the menu is very limited (which isn't a bad thing but it is when your options aren't good); bring your own hot sauce because if you're looking to make your dish spicy, they charge you an extra $3.
I ordered the Tonkatsu Ramen and it had one of the best broths I've ever had in a ramen dish! Extremely savory, definitely add an egg for the best flavor combos. I would definitely consider coming back. We came on a Friday night and sat outside as the wait time was quite long without a reservation, but the seating was very cozy with the outdoor heaters. Vegetarian options: There is a veggie broth ramen
I don’t mind paying top dollar but honestly the vegetarian ramen I ordered was mediocre. I totally agree with another reviewer who says it tastes like “run down soy sauce.” Not much in it aside from two thin slices of radish half an egg and a few salad leaves. Disappointing to be sure. Service was mixed- one guy awesome the other person was having a bad day. Cocktail was nothing special (esp for $21 after tax and tip). Bill came to $85 for 1 cocktail, small bowl of veg ramen, dessert, so definitely verging into rip off territory.
BEWARE: If you want to walk out of this restaurant feeling satisfied and full, it will not happen unless you spend a minimum of $200.00! The food's flavor was mediocre, and the portion sizes were outrageously small. I do not want to walk out of a restaurant, down $75.00, feeling hungry, contemplating what to eat next. Stay away! This place is a rip-off.
