Food is great. The problem is the wait staff. Not all, but too many... They used to be friendly, but it seems nowadays the waiters have no time for you. They spend their time talking to co-worker's, they don't come back to see if you need anything, you have to track them down after several minutes waiting on them to return. They are very short with you. This used to be my favorite place to eat, but the staff is killing the vibe. I've had friends make this complaint months ago, and I didn't believe them. Now I wish I believed them when they told me. Maybe it's management, maybe management is putting in their heads that we should be thankful for this place and them, when in fact they should be thankful for the customers. This keeps up, this place will shut down, and Austinites as always, will find another location. I'll add the fact that they don't have simple syrup or agave syrups to make top shelf margaritas. If your order top shelf, you will end up with a bitter drink. In fact, if you order any specialty drink, it will come out bitter. Doesn't take much to make simple syrup at the least
From the outside you’d think this place would be a vibe- and maybe it is, just not at the bar. The saving grace for me was that the drink I had was strong and tasted good. However that’s the high point. It’s certainly over priced for the quality of food and service. If you just need a drink - maybe check then out…. But there are so many places within walking distance that are much better.
Great Street Tacos, Quesadillas & Burrito! Not the best Veggie tacos.
This was my go to place for years. Even after I moved away from Austin, Polvos was a must visit when I came back. I met friends there for dinner on Sunday and was so disappointed. The prices were staggeringly high compared to my last visit, and the quality of the food as well as the service had declined. It made me quite sad.
Bad food. Bad service. Expensive. Poor Polvos. Used to be so good. *sigh*
Ordered a mole chicken enchiladas plate with unsweetened ice tea. Right away we were served complementary chips with fresh green and red salsa. Plate came in short time and the dish was piping hot and I could smell the aroma of the mole. The plate came with rice and refried beans. Everything was authentic and tasted wonderful especially the mole enchiladas. The building inside and out is aged but has good historical character. Very much enjoyed dining here and the service was excellent: Parking: They have a free parking lot but it was full, I ended up parking on the street just a half block away from restaurant. Street parking is also free.
Great food, great vibrant atmosphere and nice waiters. ❤️❤️ The parking is full during the evening. Parking off the street.
Never ever get the fish here. It tastes like freezer burn.
The food is really good but the prices are outrageous I felt robbed like it's California prices crazy. You can go to a food truck and get the same quality for half the price in the ghetto.Youll thank me later
