They use to be so delicious I don't know if it's a different owner but the food is not great
I was told they do not use habenaro peppers, the peppers that make food hot pepper hot . It is used to infuse flavor into Jamaican dishes but removed before it bursts into the dish. Or if it is used, they chop it and remove seeds where most of the heat lies dependent upon how ripe the pepper is. Or it can be leftbin the dish to burst for both the heat and flavor. However, not everyone can stand that Scoville scale of a hot pepper in their food. I appreciate that this establishment does not use pepper in their food. It burns my stomach and other things. Though I was told at another restaurant, Jamaican food is "supposed to be hot ", okay. But not everyone can eat peppery food. I am glad I can come here for Jamaican food that is not full of pepper.
Only one Jamaican restaurant is the best in town. I lived in Chelsea and i drove all the way to the Boston one to get my white rice and curry goat. And a peanut punch. No to mention the oxtail with rice and peas I recommend only one to everyone who asked me for a restaurant to go eat.
Amazing spicy fried chicken (I know it’s bad for me, but I always need to get 2 and eat them right away), oxtail, curry goat and stewed chicken. Get the peas and rice and cabbage and ask for extra gravy. Best Jamaican food! We could walk to Flames from our house and STILL go Only One! A medium can feed two people, easy. They load it up!
