Ben's Fast Food is amazing! Fresh, Filling, healthy, flavorful and the cherry on top is the price.! Vegetarian options: For a non meat eater, I love the chicken pea potato bowl. It's the most filling dinner I've had in a long long time.
Food was great, website interface is problematic. At ~4:50p placed a single order via the Oakland Food Hall website, from three stalls (Tipunan, Afters, and Rocko’s). Issue 1) I was getting an error message saying at least 1 item in the cart could not be scheduled at the specified window (6:30-6:45), but it would not indicate which item(s) so I had to manually delete and re-add items into my cart to adjust. I paid and got an order confirmation, all seemed to be well. Issue 2) I was not texted or informed of any issues with the order in the meantime. Issue 3) We get to the Food hall at 6:50, and the order wasn’t ready. In fact, we were told by the attendant that for some reason the order was in limbo somewhere between the intake company that handles the web orders and the restaurants themselves, then that the restaurant could see the order but that for some reason a ticket wasn’t printing to show that the order truly went through? I get a text at 6:53 that the order is ready. The attendant proceeded to go back and forth between the kitchens and us, by the third or so time eventually assuring us the food was now ready but the restaurant wanted to make certain they were going to get paid by the orders. We left with the food by 7:15, which at that point is 45 minutes past the start of my pickup window. I would be willing to try it again because the food was good and it’s at a convenient location but they definitely need to fix this if it’s an ongoing issue.
