Nonno's Cellar

A tribute to Good Food Restaurants founder John Heaphy’s grandfather (Nonno in Italian). In 1918, Marco Sciortino arrived at Ellis Island from Palermo, Sicily with little else but hope and a desire to pursue his vision of the American Dream: a family to love and celebrate life with, a good job, a nice garden, and a modest house with a cellar. In Lima, Nonno found all those things. His cellar- filled with mason jars of the summer harvest and fresh tomato sauce- was a place of love, fun and warmth, where family gatherings and celebrations were enjoyed.
