Mongers

I left so stuffed and satisfied. I probably gained 3lbs as they had the most delicious desserts (key lime pie!!!, chocolate torte, and a blackberry compote with vanilla cake). Plus their oysters were so flavorful, fresh and just scrumptious. Highly recommend their lobster bisque. In addition to the food, their staff was so knowledgeable, friendly, professional, and customer care oriented.

I came from LA traveled 45 mins by car just to try this spot and it's closed with no sign saying why....but it says it's open on the maps...

To start off positive, the oysters/raw food items were great. Everything else was extremely overpriced and underwhelming. To start, we ordered oysters (amazing), crab cake which was just okay, and then the tuna and sea bass for entrees. The tuna was served with breakfast style potatoes which was just odd, tuna was cold, and sauce it came with flavorless. Sea bass was severely under seasoned as well with mediocre sides. Suggestion would be — maybe some more innovative side dishes for $30+ meals and focus more on the flavor profiles of your proteins, bc I could make what we had better at home...I would suggest coming for HH and the raw bar only as everything else was extremely underwhelming for the price point. Giving 3 stars bc service, drinks, and oysters were good. This is just another underwhelming experience at an overpriced restaurant in Austin.

I must admit that we're pretty partial to Monger's. But as an educated diner, there is no better location for fresh seafood in the Austin area. Other than Este, of course. Different styles, but both are phenomenal!

If you love oysters and seafood, check this place out. The drinks were great as well.
