A Midwest Oasis in Santa Monica I recently visited Mom's Bar in Santa Monica on a Tuesday night with friends, and I must say, it was an unexpected gem that transported us to the heart of a small town in the Midwest. The atmosphere exuded warmth and familiarity, making it an ideal spot for a casual evening out. Upon entering, we were greeted by the friendly bartender, whose knowledge and expertise added an extra layer of charm to our experience. The drink prices were surprisingly affordable, especially for Santa Monica, making it a budget-friendly option without compromising on quality. One of the highlights of Mom's Bar is the inviting outside patio area in the back. It provided a cozy setting, perfect for sipping drinks and engaging in conversation amidst the fresh air. The ambiance felt like a welcome departure from the typical Santa Monica scene, offering a tranquil escape right in the heart of the city. For those seeking a bit of friendly competition, the front lounge boasted a pingpong table, adding an element of fun to the evening. It created a lively and interactive atmosphere, making Mom's Bar more than just a place to enjoy drinks—it's a destination for entertainment and socializing. The overall vibe of Mom's Bar is a testament to its commitment to creating a unique and enjoyable experience for its patrons. Whether you're looking for a relaxing evening on the patio or a bit of friendly competition over a game of pingpong, Mom's Bar in Santa Monica has you covered. It's a breath of fresh air in the bustling city, offering a taste of small-town charm that will leave you coming back for more.
There's really nothing good to say about this place. The bartenders are the only thing here that don't suck but they're not exactly anything to rave about either. The drinks are horrendous. Highly recommend getting your first drink elsewhere otherwise you're in for a very gross treat. The alcohol is so cheap here, it just makes you more sick than anything else. The chips they tout are equally disgusting and can only be tolerated if you're beyond hungry and desperate for something to munch on. The music is atrocious. The worst hip hop from 20 years ago that didn't sound good when it was new. The patrons here are mostly creepy guys who don't respect boundaries or are very low-grade. It's no wonder that you never see young, attractive females here because after their first time here, none of them want to come back. The pictures on IG are clearly paid models and not at all representative of the people who actually go here. Maybe this place is better off just trying to be a sports bar than a night club...? Shame because the layout and space here is actually pretty fantastic. This business clearly doesn't know/care how to utilize what they have here.
