Eliecer was excellent in his service!!! Super helpful and hardworking. The food is amazing, is like tasting the rich salsa music culture in your paladar. Nothing like the flavor of "La isla del Encanto ("The enchanted Island). Come here and enjoy the Caribbean flavor.
Not really much to look at externally or internally for that matter, but don't let the humble esthetic fool you. The food is certifiably wonderful. The food! We tried just about every dish they had at a recent catered event. Everyone commented on how good it is. Good? It's pretty FANTASTIC! Am I coming on too strong? Good.
Everything was delicious!
This review is about my first experience last night at their Plena night. So I paid for tickets to attend this event that they said would start at 9. I get there a little passed 9 and they were still setting up. No one was checking for paid tickets. No one stopped to ask me anything. I saw people coming in after me and who is to say they even paid when no one was checking. I feel like I paid for nothing and lost $20 because I also could have just walked In for this event and watched for free. Then we ordered food . there is nowhere to sit so I asked the lady do we just stand around? Will you call our name ? And she said I’ll come get you because I recognize faces. So my husband and I find a corner to stand in and about 30 min go by my hubby goes and checks on our food. Our food was ready and put to the side. So had he not gone up and asked no one was going to come tell us the food was ready. The whole event seem unorganized. The space is small. They removed the indoor tables for space for this event but it still seemed too small and overcrowded. We took our food and found a table outside that we cleaned up , ate our food and left. We are just Disappointed by how everything was handled.
I usually love the food at this place. Reminds me of pthe cuchifritos from the Bronx, where I was born and raised. But yesterday I ordered their Chuletas Can Can. Normally very delicious. But a meal once priced just under $40, now over $65, should be prepared better. The Chuleta was deep fried. So over cooked, there was no meat to enjoy. Consider the large increase in price, I should have been able to enjoy my food. But it was TERRIBLE! Not the 1st time the cook has over cooked the chuletas. I always order Chuletas, because it is one of my favorite dishes. But they were slightly over cooked last time. Reason I didn't order for months. But having spent almost $80 and not being able to eat my Chuleta was upsetting. Worst part is that there is no owner or manager to talk too. As they are not there over the weekend? Not good for business. Be weary of ordering chuletas, cause cook is not good at getting them right. And check your meat is cooked properly before taking order. Very unsure when I will order again, after spending so much money on just rice, mofongo and tostones.
The restaurant itself needs some renovation and upkeep! Floors are bad, walls need paint and pictures on walls updated. Its a shame because otherwise food and service are good.
Me Gusto El Ambiente me recordo mis tiempos cuando hera un nene chauuuu
I had the Mofongo con pernil with tostones de pana, which was very good. Also tried the sampler. Service was quick. Everything was exquisite Highly recommended!
The food was cold. The mofongo was bad, it isn't really mofongo. They broiled the plantain and just smashed. I won't recommend this place. Sorry.
