Let’s say you want a sweet treat relatively late at night and find yourself in the East Village and find yourself reading a certain Eater article about the best dessert places near you. Please do not make the mistake I did and go to literally anywhere other than Milk(ing your hard earned money) Bar. If you want to pay 18 dollars for suspiciously salty soft serve in a cup with potentially two (2!!!!) false bottoms and a prepackaged cookie or slice of milk bar pie (pie crust), go right ahead! But if you prefer any semblance of reason or simply do not want to experience such disappointment at the end of your day, please either wait for the next day to come and satisfy your craving with any number of delicious nearby options or pop into a bodega and get yourself a well deserved ice cream sandwich, a dessert with more originality, flavor, and substance than anything sold at Milk Bar.
The ice cream was not even an ice cream. It felt like I was eating salt only. It tasted terrible. We had DIY, cookie cream sundae, and cookie cream swirl. The cookie cream swirl was plain vanilla ice cream with no cookies. They also tasted terrible. We had to throw all of them in a bin. I highly suggest not wasting your precious money on this “ice cream.”
I came to get ice cream 35 minutes before hand I'm told that the ice cream machine is down while I see the woman emptying out the ice cream in a bucket with a horrible attitude
Wonderful surprise sweet tastes. Small store with excellent cookies. The cold brew is very addictive and delicious. The compost cookie is too sweet for me but worth trying too.
I love master chef and Christina, and so I was super disappointed by the quality of the cookie and the cake.
The magic touch and innovation of Christina Tosi feels long lost at the modern Milk Bar locations, which give off a very Hudson News airport store vibe. For $3.75 you can get a compost cookie that tastes akin to a deluxe grocery store cookie. As my husband put it, it’s got stale pretzel pieces, it’s doughy and very sweet, and nothing about it seems touched by a human hand. Not to mention that when I paid and left a tip…the cookie wasn’t even handed to me. I had to ask if I could take it. Bummer, since my first ever cereal milk ice cream experience at momofuku milk bar was mind blowingly good!
The location is great for a quick snack on the munchies but the hot chocolate is just too sweet I like it but idk
