Lucy's Lounge

First time coming here to see a band I heard about. About 5pm for dinner and music. Mama Mia is tied into the lounge so I treated my parents to the venue. I understand the night scene around tower district and the time frame 5pm - 8pm seemed safe enough. The female bartender was nice when I asked if food was ordered on Mama Mia side, she said yes in their side. I got 4 beers and waited for our food. Our food was delivered and my mother asked for 2 waters. This was a Mama Mia server and obviously she forgot. My mom needed water and I approached the bar looking for a water jug and cups that some Bars have. I asked the male bartender for 2 waters for food service and he replied “she’s the bartender” and pointed at the female bartender. I said it’s mainly water for my parents sitting there. He disregarded me and I stood there for a min waiting for the female bartender. A female at the bar asked for a water and seen as how I was right there as well, he placed a water in front of me as well. He didn’t say a word or look at me. He walked by and I asked him if that was for me. He said yes. The female bartender got 3 more ready and I asked her how are we supposed to get water if we are eating? The music was load and it was obvious they didn’t want to serve water. The guy bartender asked me why I was being hostel and I said “hostel” “over water” the female said everyone needs to calm down, I again said “over water” she said I had to leave and I was asked by Bobby Salazar staff to leave. Even they said they were sorry and they don’t have anything to do with this side other than to get trouble out and we did not look like trouble. The Bobby Salazar manager felt bad as my mom was emotional because she just wanted water to take a pill and then eat her food. Mind you this is 6pm and not the night scene. Having the entire party leave didn’t make sense to me. I asked if my parents could at least finish their food and they said the bartender wants you out. I do believe both bartenders were in the wrong and handled the situation inappropriately. The male bartender had some bad attitude from the beginning. I get that the night scene gets rough and dealing with some disgruntled people gets stressful. This absolutely shouldn’t have resulted in getting everyone removed. I went next door to Bobby’s and spoke with the manager, he was understanding and acknowledged a key element of the situation. The male bartender initially refused to serve water and that could have prevented the situation from ever happening. I’ve always had good times at Bobby’s and great food from Mama Mia’s. The bartenders service tonight at Lucy’s Lounge at 6pm was sad. I could have just waited for my parents and walked around but they kicked out people almost in their 70’s for absolutely nothing. I do believe this could be an isolated incident and I’ll update the review in the future. Attention in this matter is deserved by the owner. Update to restaurants reply Since the reply was definitely not the owner and someone that doesn’t have a dime invested in the business, it was condescending and had no value. I could have just put terrible service and you would have disregarded, deflected, and continued to make the business look bad but I tried to explain. I was upset when the male bartender dismissed the request for water. We knew there wasn’t a cocktail server and the water was ordered at the bar and gladly taken to the table. This “book” may help people avoid asking for water and save the bartender the stress. Respect to Mama Mia and Bobby SALAZAR’s staff but…. Was and based on your reply, is still is lacking in service. There’s plenty of good reviews but the ones that were critical received the same rude reply’s . Even constructive criticism is even dismissed. I look forward to coming back, I’ll just bring my own water :)

I have enjoyed seeing live music here on several occasions. The ambiance is the best. Great drinks.
