Amazing service, great drinks, delicious food. It's a well-rounded spot in a great location.
Burger is in fact very good. Quality beef, perfectly mid rare. Not sure why only 12 a night. Perhaps good strategy to get people to fill the early 5:00 pm seats. Great bartender, wine was good not great, and short pours…but that’s the norm in NYC these days. Small starter scallop bite was fresh. Would try some other interesting looking things next time.
Try the non-alcoholic cocktails! It is rare that I stumble across a restaurant where the ‘zero proof’ options outshine their alcoholic alternatives. But at Lord’s this is indeed the case. Peering down the menu, I was thrilled to see an eclectic and enticing mix of non-alcoholic drinks leaving one with little option but to order the non-alcoholic English Garden. ‘You do know that hasn’t got any alcohol in it?,’ said the waiter, with some hint of disdain. ‘Yes!,’ said I, ‘it’s calling to me.’ It arrived and indeed was delicious, conjuring up images of lavender bushes and warm afternoons spent at the National Trust. My dining companion got a G&T, which was to be found wanting. Despite the thrilling cocktails, however, I find myself only able to give this restaurant three stars. The reason? Starvation and the ludicrous price. We ordered three starters, two mains and two cocktails. But at the end of the meal remained absolutely famished. Being of normal size, this restaurant is clearly only recommendable if you want to do ‘banter eating’ or are currently on Weight Watchers / Ozempic. To add insult to injury, the price came out at $150 (excluding tip). Now that REALLY is too much to pay and be famished
The service was nice, the atmosphere warm, but when it comes to the food, bit disappointment: very pricey, and rather tasteless.
Great meal at Lord’s. Great service, anticipating needs without being overbearing. Food is exactly what you want it to be — exciting with unique ingredients and flavor profiles… yet still familiar and not so fussy that if grandma made it you wouldn’t be shocked. Guanciale and Oysters? Sure. Duck pie was a must. Everything felt comfortable yet refined, and in a sleek space too. Will return.
Lord's is a fine restaurant with great service. This is borderline 1 star. The service is 1 star, the food is not. Bottom line. Is it worth the trip? Yes. The oysters were over salted and their flavor was masked by the other ingredients. Think, full coverage. The scallop was great. I would come to appreciate its light, freshness by the end of the meal. I didn't care for the burger, having tried a few other's recently. Raoul's was considerably better. Having gone to many 1 star restaurants, this was one of the less enjoyable meals. That being said, it was a great experience. And perhaps one of the few opportunities to have elevated English food. If I were to give any feedback, it would be the menu would benefit from more balance.
