I've been coming here for a few years now. Great Mexican food and beer. Picnic table style seating. Number on the table gets you your order.

The food here is delicious. I got the carnitas chili relleno and a shredded beef taco. Both were good, especially the chili relleno. The only reason why they get a 3 star for service is that you have to order at a counter, so it's not like a restaurant where they take your order.

It's always a favorite spot across the beach with delicious food and drinks. Great job outdoors, safety and social distancing... 2023 New salsa bar, and they're charging for chips now. It's a generous amount for only 2.00 Food remains the same delicious

Been dining at “the waves” for 35+ years and it’s still the best place in San Diego for a delicious surfside mexican meal. They are operating in the counter-order mode since the pandemic and we hope they eventually go back to the friendly beautiful/handsome waitresses that enhance your dining experience. Then follow with a walk on the beach and life is good!

Cafeteria type service. Unfortunately the food did not meet my expectations. The soup was very salty. I had the Enchiladas which had hardly any cheese or taste . I would not recommend this food, probably the most disappointing Mexican food I have had. Service was friendly and timing .

Awesome!! Chicken Chile Relleno is the bomb!

A really nice place. Can get busy, and parking can be packed sometimes, but the location is tops. Food is decent, reliable but not breathtaking. There's a guy in a rv that chases away people who are going to the beach across the street and try to park there. Which is nice.
