What it was: Tasty and fresh. What it wasn’t: worth it. Let me explain: This was truly a one-star experience, but I don’t want to tank any ratings just to leave constructive criticism. I think the owners fell victim to their own ambition. I went on a Sunday, i.e. Farmer’s Market day. The place was busy but not any more busy than I’ve seen the farmer’s market when it was a nice day out. I ordered around 1:15, and I received my order around 2:20. That is over an hour wait for one order of chicken and waffles. The food truck obviously makes every fresh and to order (which I appreciate), but I think they should focus on perfecting a select few menu items and improve efficiency processes instead of having 8+ different menu items and struggling to keep up with orders in a timely manner. I was not the only person who had to wait a while for food. The food: The waffle triangles were crispy with a malted caramelized flavor (possibly due to the maple syrup). A+ flavor, but they were a bit too oily(?) for my taste. The chicken was hot and fresh, but the seasonings on top were a bit confusing. I didn’t hate it, but I don’t know that it needed it. Ultimately, it felt like they were still working out the kinks. If I was warned of an hour-long wait, I would not have ordered.
Fantastic chicken! And the Blackjack were amazing! DJ (the owner) was super nice and answered all of my questions and didn’t seem impatient with me. Took a little long, but totally worth it! I will definitely be back:
