I recently revisited Kashiwa after a hiatus during the pandemic, finding that ownership had changed hands. Initially apprehensive about potential changes to the quality of the food, I'm pleased to report that my fears were unfounded. With some time to spare, my companion and I decided to pay a visit, and our experience left us happily surprised. One of my favorites maki is the off-menu umeshiso maki, and it is the first time i see it on a menu. Despite having dinner plans in less than two hours, we opted for a few items to savor the moment. The chirashi, priced reasonably at $45.00, was a delightful combination of generous fish portions and the perfect amount of rice. For those undecided, it's an excellent choice. In addition to the chirashi, I ordered the umekyu maki, fatty salmon nigiri, and a salmon skin roll. Each dish hit the mark in terms of taste and presentation. The miso soup was a flavorful accompaniment to the meal. The service remained as friendly and attentive as I remembered, and the ambiance, thankfully unchanged, retained the traditional Japanese restaurant feel that I've always appreciated about Kashiwa. Overall, my return to Kashiwa was not only reassuring but also a reminder of why it has been my favorite place for traditional Japanese sushi in Long Beach. Parking: in front of the restaurant door there is an open parking lot for the strip mall.

Food is good, nice location and well decorated inside. Why the 2 stars? Price for food is very high. A chicken teriyaki bento box is $25.

I havent had sushi this good in a long time. The service was amazing, atmosphere was awesome, and most of all the food was ridiculously good. The omakase was definitely worth it.

I came in just for a few items to try out as I had never been here. I will definitely be coming back to try a few other items. Friendly staff , clean good quality food , low key spot.
