Juniper Cafe

This place is amazing. I had the gumbo. It was more than enough but I could not stop eating it. The service was great as well. I can not wait to return and try something else.

I was searching for holiday deserts and this place came up. I also saw they had a listing for a special holiday menu, which looked pretty good. since it was quite a drive from my house I figured I'd eat there also since I was picking up the desserts. from the holiday menu, I ordered the wontons, ragoons, and crispy okra. the wontons came in this chili oil, just the right amount of spice.. delicious. the ragoons had like a herb-cream cheese filling, had great flavor. they were served with what was called a red marmalade, it brought everything together...great dish. even the crispy okra was good. I believe they dehydrated it, but there was no slimyness, tasted like we were eating chips..another winner for entrees, we got the bone-in general tso chicken, the Mongolian beef, and the fried rice. the beef was excellent, came with some crispy cellophane type noodles, just perfect and flavorful. the chicken ..so crispy, so flavorful. damn it was good. I thought the fried rice was a little lacking, also came with a sunny-side up egg, not really my thing. we also got the papaya salad, a nice cold salad. for desert for the bread pudding, really nice. had a chocolate sauce paired with vanilla ice cream. a nice treat. the Mrs had the chocolate chip cookie, it's really a chocolate chip/oat cookie but it is really good, especially paired with the vanilla ice cream. also when we picked up our holiday deserts, they were wrapped like Christmas gifts. I thought that was a nice touch. I'll definitely be back here to try the regular menu! for desert

Terrible food. Over salted. Service was awful and they included a mandatory 20% gratuity for a party of 2. Half the menu was not available and no cocktails were available. Spent $90 for 2 and the meals were inedible. I see why they are going out of business.

Note this review is from November 2022, posted late. Finally got to try this place after several attempts (their hours vary so much it's hard to just come on a whim). The atmosphere is very nice but relaxed. Server was super friendly. Food was amazing, small portions but perfectly filling and not heavy. The chicken satay was the best I've ever had. Definitely going to come back and try the brunch menu or the pastries and coffee for breakfast. Highly recommend this place if you can figure out their odd hours. Parking: Free parking, large lots, plenty of space.

Try the shrimp étouffée

Had to try before they move to another location in 2023. Chicken satay ($15) is tender and delicious. 5 sticks with good portion of chicken on each. Steak banh mi ($15) is good. Their famous fried chicken ($30) comes with 4 pieces of dark meat and a bowl of Cole Slaw is also very good. The only thing is the prices. The only reason I haven't visited until now. With 20% gratuity added lunch for two came out to be $77 without any drinks. I'm glad I tried and best of luck with the relocation.

The crawfish etouffee noodles were actually pretty damn good. But the service wasn't that great. I was ignored for quite a while before I got my order taken. The automatic gratitude is quite annoying so please watch out for that. Also I feel like the food is overpriced. I'll probably get my food to go next time.

Delicious food! Will miss it when it closes

Made a reservation in December and in January they suddenly decided to close their dining room. That’s fine but I got no notice from the restaurant despite my reservation being 25 days after their decision. I came from out of town and found out only once we were here.
