My memories of J.Alexander's go back many years. I visited them again today, and what a disappointment. It was extremely noisy and crowded, the food was tasteless, and the service was very slow and inaccurate. Restaurants like this are overpriced fast food restaurants.
Overall, I gave this restaurant a four out of five stars because of the service from Brian and some of the food. Brian’s has Terrific attention to detail. He definitely stands out. If we go back, I would ask to be seated in his section. The carpets need to be Steam extracted. Now Regarding the food, We ordered the fillet Caesar salad. There was no way that Steak was fillet. We’ve had fillet too many times, tasted like a tough ribeye to me. The appetizer was terrific, as was the carrot cake. We’ve always loved the atmosphere at the restaurant. Table service is typically top-notch. They appeared to have plenty of staff. At those rates, In my opinion, the manager should make his rounds to ask about satisfaction.
Absolutely a spectacular lunch at the bar with Amanda and Gage. You have got to go and have a gorgeous lunch with the wonderful and low calorie spaghetti squash and soup of the day with generous pours on the lemon drop martini and Malibu rums. Love these guys with their stylish hairdos and wonderful earrings with a very can do attitude!
I’d provide the server’s name however she failed to mention it after we sat. She did immediately ask for a beverage order w/o allowing time to view the drink menu or even gather my thoughts for a drinking option. No recommendations or knowledge of the ingredients when asked. My salmon was amazing! I did not bring my glasses so I couldn’t confirm it being undercooked which I had a slight feeling. I ate it all it was seasoned to perfection. Cypress salad looked outstanding. The cornbread croutons are delish! The plain croutons in the Alex salad (think that is the right name of it) are great2! Train your servers(or at least that one)to be more present in providing the experience to your guests(it was my 1st time) it should reflect In her tips. Even though it is customary for 20%tipping, I thoroughly believe in providing proper service to receive that customary amount..I would do the same for you knowing you came out to eat at my place when there are 100’s of other options you could have chosen.. Money doesn’t grow on trees and you shouldnot expect the norm when you are not giving that ♀️
Before today I had never had anything less than a great meal at this location. Today one of the lunch specials was a Caesar Salmon Salad for $22. I wish I had taken a picture of what was served to me. If I hadn't been with a client I would have sent it back. It looked like something they'd serve at the convention center. A handful of romaine, a flattened piece of fish and a few small crumbs of crouton are not worth $22. I know they can do better because they usually do. Very disappointing.
Business lunch here! Oh my goodness, what a classy place to have a meal and talk business with colleagues. The service was superior, even with a trainee waiter! She was awesome and took care of the 8 of us very promptly and professionally! No one had any complaints about the food in our group. Actually we all loved it! Never had to ask for a refill, we were kept topped off and everything was handled super professionally as a short presentation was being made! I got the prime rib sandwich. It was cooked to perfection and so flavorful. The au jus was great! Loved the shoestring fries that came with it! Excellent experience there at J Alexander’s! I’ll be back!
My husband and I had the Rattlesnake pasta. I was very disappointed. Asked the waiter if they change the recipe. He replied that the noodles was different. I told him him that it did not tasted the same . Then he replied that their was no season put on it and he will bring some out but that was at the end of the meal. Very disappointed!
Phenomenal food and amazing atmosphere!
Prejudice waitress. PERIOD Said they didn’t have any potatoes and offered fries with sauces. This is an upscale restaurant. How do you “run out of food”. Why would you want fries with a $50 meal?? Doesn’t add up. However the young man who brought the food to the table said they do have potatoes got a nice tip. He went and grabbed two potatoes from the kitchen immediately and apologized for the mistake. This is the first and last time I’ll dine at the one in Chattanooga Tn.
We were looking for a fine dining experience and this place did not disappoint! Our waiter, Shane, was amazing and the food was even better!
