2nd time back to Gracie's and was not disappointed by the beautifully presented and wonderfully delicious chef's tasting menu and cocktails! Overall, the experience was lovely but lacked the *magic* we felt the first time. Unlike our first visit, this time they were 30 mins late seating us (reservation was for 8:30pm and we were sat at our table at 9:05pm) though the host did offer us a complimentary glass of prosecco while we were waiting which was a kind gesture. One of our favorite memories of Gracie's was the excited and engaging server we had the first time. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case a few nights ago. Our server did not engage in any conversation and on a few occasions did not explain the course we were being served--which left us a bit puzzled as to what we were about to eat. They were friendly but appeared uninterested which can really dampen the mood. Would still love to go back but maybe not as soon as we had originally hoped.

(Review by Patricia) My husband and I dined at Gracie's twice recently and both times it was excellent. Each time our server was Jim who is a wonderful waiter and a very nice person. The chef is truly creative so the food was not only delicious but very visually appealing. Plus the extra small bite treats are always special. We are looking forward to the next time we return!

...I've been to in a long time. Food innovative, service informed and friendly without being obsequious, and fair value. Don't let some of the slightly naff, dated fixtures & fittings dissuade you.

1. Fabulous breads (try them all). 2. Attentive, knowledgable service. 3. The grilled octopus appetizer - tenderest version of this dish I've ever eaten. Prices are steep and the bill adds up quickly but portions are generous. The food is beautifully presented though sometime does not live up to its appearance. Be prepared to cool your heels at the bar if you're lucky enough to get a seat while waiting for your table (it was a busy Saturday night so somewhat expected). Overall a positive experience but not quite five-star-worthy.

$45 prix fixe is excellent value. Everything was delicious:gnocci, beet salad, duck breast, swordfish, creme brulee, orange upside down cake. Swordfish was particularly notable: not usually the most exciting entree, but here it was delicious. Restaurant almost full but no unpleasant din. Service was very pleasant and attentive. When coffee wasn't served promptly, the cost was taken off the bill. If I lived in the area, I would definitely be a regular. I don't often say that.

1st time there..we pulled up and the valet was outstanding, We were 20mins early and had a drink at the bar..excellent service. We were seated promptly on time and decided to do the 7 course meal with the wine pairing. Started with scallop tatar..then an interesting soup and salad.. a to die for lobster dish, a duck (excellent). a cheese platter (ok) and a hazelnut mouse(good.) The wine pairing ranged from sparkling wine, a chard, pinot noir, a port, a cab and glass of beer. All very small tastings 2oz. I was concerned with the small portions I would still be hungry but was actually very full. I think it us because they draw it out over 2 1/2 hrs. Next time I would just do al a carte and a nice bottle of wine. Very good experience but long

10/12/2013 Talented chef but front-of-house so bad we will never return. The manager and waiter managed to ruin a festive family evening. If you're looking for a staff dedicated to their patrons, try one of the many truly good and well-run restaurants in Providence. Gracie's was a terrible experience.

--From May 7, 2010, sorry for the delay-- I was with a group up at the Naval War College. A few of us professed to be foodies, so we formed an ad hoc supper club. Gracie's was a recommendation from a friend so I cajoled the crew to drive the 45 minutes from Newport for a delectable dining experience. We were not disappointed. From the inexpensive custom martinis at the bar through dessert, we were thoroughly impressed. We all chose the fixe prix menu. Many delicious, fresh choices. There were several gifts from the kitchen throughout our meal which made it fun and that much more endearing. The wine list was extensive and we found a few great bottles of Pinot to please even the inexperienced pallet. The service was off the charts. It was a memorable meal. Highly recommended.

$5 cocktails, YUM! $30 prix fixe menu with local ingredients, yeah! Surcharges for any interesting menu item that is ~30% over a la carte pricing, meh... Cocktails are interesting, but measuring ingredients would help build a better balanced cocktail, I thought the aviation they mixed me was too sweet. Started with local Rhode Island litteneck clams. Bacon very delicate Creamy leeks off the hook. Clams fresh, just a bit sandy Breads beer/honey brown Bought in baguette Got two little bites from the kitchen, gratis, Salmon rillete with creme fraiche and crispy caper, and Mango and passionfruit sorbet. Duck with option for breast or leg. I took a leg, which also came with a small Foie ravioli. Chocolate pot au creme Gratis sweet nibbles as in other's photos. Total for dinner and drinks $55, a heck of a deal that I would probably pay twice for in my hometown of Washington DC.
