Geraldo's Italian Restaurant

My husband and I Went in today at 8:00pm, there was no one in the front which is understandable if the hostess is helping out. Waited 5 minutes and decided to sit down in the waiting area. 10 minutes passed by then it was 8:15, 2 waitresses had walked past us did not acknowledge us, we thought okay they are busy, until we saw them take a good time to gossip. 8:20 still no one acknowledged us, until 2 other people came in and a waitress told them “We will be right with you” and the hostess came out to sit them until we said we’ve been waiting a long time. So we were ignored for a good 20 minutes, we ended up leaving due to that experience…

NOT A FAN. Five of us walked in, waited to be seated for dinner but the hostess was nowhere to be found. After 10 minutes, my husband finally poked his head in the kitchen to request to be seated. Five more minutes before the hostess with an attitude came out. It's downhill from there. We had to ask for water several times. The soup and salad appeared after the entree was already served--the server said she forgot--of course the soup was cold when it arrived. The pasta was overcooked. We had to wait another 20 minutes to get our bill, and another 15 minutes to remind the server we were ready to pay. We finally had to get up and pay at the front, greeted by the same surly hostess. For a dine-in experience and pricing, not worth the time and money NOT A FAN!

Overpriced, under seasoned food. Service was good but food is not. Mozzarella sticks were still cold in the middle. I had fettuccini Alfredo with chicken. It was 30 dollars! I can get steak pasta other places in this town for the same price as a few sad pieces of chicken here. Had no flavor. Veggies were undercooked. French onion soup tastes like beef stock with pepper in it. No actual onions and the cheese is not all browned and nicely melted on top like other places. Looked like they just plopped cheese in and microwaved it. I think the atmosphere is starting to look a bit dated.

Great service, good food, and we really enjoyed the atmosphere. My wife is Italian and she loved it.

Painfully s...l...o...w service. If it was any slower, we'd have gone back in time. We waited to be seated, we waited to get water, we waited to have our order taken, we waited for our checks, and we waited for credit cards to be run. If the service was any slower I would have been writing this review tomorrow. Never again.

Geraldo's is about as close as you get to fine dining in Fairbanks. The high point here is the staff. They deal with high volumes of diners pretty much from open to close & they always do it with smiling, professional, courteous employees. The food is well prepared &mid to high priced. But pricing overall is equal to what you'll find in any full service restaurant. The wait times for orders are average to long. We arrived early evening before the crowd picked up. Appetizers were forgotten & had to be reordered, resulting in half our party finishing theirs before the second half even arrived. The main course meals were equally delayed. The portions like mist restaurants have gotten smaller than even a few years ago. The lasagna, which is my favorite, has been reduced by almost half over the past several years, with the price being about 30% more at around $28. The atmosphere is quaint but long overdue for interior refreshing or makeover. I would recommend this highly if you've never been just for the experience & the smiling, friendly employees & low key atmosphere. As lifelong residents, we used to go monthly. With the higher prices and reduced portions, we now only frequent Geraldo's a couple of times a year.
