I would come here quite often but after today I would doubt going there. I would usually get the lunch box special with chicken curry and mixed vegetables. The chicken had a repulsive flavor, as if it had been reheated and excessively seasoned with salt. The addition of vegetables made it even worse, and what's more, they never provide utensils without being asked, despite charging nearly $16, when it used to be around $12. Their service has significantly declined.
Extremely unsatisfied and unsettled by this place.. I would strongly recommend going elsewhere.
The chicken dish had good flavor, albeit it was slightly cooler than preferred. Given my hunger, I consumed it rather swiftly, and it remained quite juicy. I also found the veggie samosas quite delightful. They had a pleasant doughy texture, and the potatoes used were evidently fresh. The accompaniments of chutney and tamarind complemented the samosas exceptionally well. The mango lassi, as always, proved to be a satisfying choice. However, I must express some reservations about the chicken samosas. They were noticeably dry, resembling the texture of kibble. The rice accompanying the meal lacked flavor, leaving it rather unappetizing. The corn dish, while flavorful, did not align with my personal taste preferences. As for the rice pudding, I was disappointed; the use of basmati rice in rice pudding does not yield the desired result, and it ended up tasting more like biryani pudding. Lastly, the guulab jammun struck me as peculiar. It evoked memories of a Syrian dessert I have encountered before, which consists of fried dough soaked in sugar syrup and rose water. Overall, this dining experience did not rank among the best I have had.
Exceptional curry! Some of the best I’ve ever had in nyc! Absolutely delicious
I’ve tried tens Tikka Masalas in New York. For a very long time this joint and another one in Financial District have had the best Chicken and Paneer Tikka Masalas you can find. Creamy, well seasoned. It was perfect. However, I’ve noticed that over the past few months the Chicken Tikka Masala changed its flavor a little. It is much less seasoned than it used to be. I have been ordering their food regularly, and I will probably continue to do so, because it’s still good, but it seems they changed the chef and the taste is not as good as it was 6 months ago.
Most disappointing Indian food I’ve had in a very long time. No flavor, it takes real skill to make Indian food taste bland. Had the tika masala. The sauce tasted like it was made by chef boyarde.
