I went to Fia for Sunday brunch. We arrived at 11.15 am (as the place quickly packed around noon), and you have a 2-hour limit. For Brunch, there is only the “Experience” option, which is a basket of baked croissants, scones, carrot cakes, etc., followed by main and bottomless drinks (mimosas, margaritas, or rose —no substitutions) for $67. For me, it was worth it; I had at least 4 glasses of mimosa. But for my friend, who doesn’t drink alcohol, it felt very pricey as she could only have juice. After-tax and tips, it ended up costing ~$85 each. She actually commented (“This was the most expensive breakfast of my life!”) Me? I really enjoyed the food. The pastries were tasty, and my Shrimp & Grits too (although I felt there was too much spicy oil on my grits, which ruined the dish for me a little. I asked for a piece of bread/brioche, which helped soak up the oil, though! The service was excellent. Our waitress was very attentive and available, and so was the rest of the staff. We didn’t feel rushed towards the end (unlike other restaurants that ask you for the table back for their next customers). The ambiance was lovely, surrounded by trees, lights, and cool decorations; I really enjoyed the spot! It was supposed to rain that day, and we were hoping to eat outside. Outside is much nicer than inside, and luckily, they have a plastic cover (like a tent) that allows you to eat outside even if it rains (once in a blue moon in LA, but still, good to know!) Overall, I had a great experience, and I’d definitely come back! Parking: On Sundays, metered parking is free :)
Awful food. Cobb was drenched in enough fake truffle oil to give you a headache. Carrots were almost completely raw. Arribiata pasta was spicier than the spiciest dish at your local Thai place. I put habaneros on half the food I eat and I found the pasta extremely spicy. Nobody in the kitchen seemed like they were tasting the food they were putting out. Restaurant was leaking badly. Very good service though. I’m sure the ambiance outside would be nice on a less rainy day
So good and cozy. Food was amazing but beware of over-ordering! We took the waiter’s rec of 2.5 dishes pp if sharing and we had so many leftovers despite coming hungry. Portions of starters are large & the garlic bread (skippable) is literally a full baguette. Chopped salad was huge but amazing. 7ish things would’ve been plenty for 4. Lobster pasta was also interesting bud shippable.
