El Cholo - The Original

We got the burrito and the history platter and the meats were dry, the salsas seemed like canned salsa, everything had cheap cheddar cheese inside the enchilada, Chile relleno and beans so it’s really not authentic Mexican food. The friendly server and atmosphere were the only reason we stayed to eat. Maybe this place gets good reviews for the fish tank and alcohol.

Always a great experience. We've been going here since one of our first dates in College. 55 years ago.

Our waiter was awesome. Very nice and funny.

I hate to give a bad review for El. Chollo, but I've never been to the Western location I. Usually go to the location in Santa Monica and it's always good. Maybe they made the mistake of coming here on Easter, but there was absolutely nobody in the restaurant. Maybe like okay. I'm lying. There was a couple people, but not enough for the waitress. Never to come over to our table. She kept disappearing. And don't order the appetite or combo. Because they threw all the appetizers onto a dinner plate. Instead of the appetizer plate they're supposed to have it on. So my nachos were literally buried with the taquitoes and everything. It was just like a sloppy mess. We literally didn't even eat dinner after that. We left it when somewhere else. What a waste of our time.

You should try this place! I was looking for the place in LA that have Fajitas because I really enjoyed in Texas! And this place is the best restaurant for that. I will visit here again :)

The food is very inconsistent. I used to love this place, the food and the service. Today I had cold, thawed out type chicken in my Caesar salad. The previous bartender Armando is no longer there. The newer bartender, Nick, does a great job. But the manager, Oscar, is dismissive. I inquired about a’ la carte items which I believe were once on the menu and since he didn’t understand what I meant by a’ la carte, after questioning me with a confused expression, he snapped saying ‘THIS is the only menu we have!’ He was rude… there are two other managers I’ve had good experiences with.
