As someone who's explored bars across the globe, my recent experience at this establishment truly baffled me. Going in alone, my sole intention was to enjoy a night of solo revelry - sipping drinks and crooning along to some tunes. However, to my astonishment, I found myself shown the door simply because I was nodding my head. It's worth noting that I have a pretty high tolerance, and I certainly wasn't causing a ruckus or bothering anyone. Initially, I couldn't help but wonder if there were racial undertones to this incident, given the disheartening accounts I'd come across from others who had experienced discrimination here. It's disconcerting to think that just because I’m hispanic I might have played a role in my ejection. This establishment should aspire to be a welcoming haven for all patrons, irrespective of their background or how they enjoy their time here. Let's hope they embrace change and inclusivity moving forward. For the record I was not asleep. I laid my head down on my hand with my head facing up my eyes weren’t closed and I was fully conscious of what’s going on. Was just bored and tired after working 12 hours at tesla and was waiting my turn to sing. I understand there’s a liability for having someone fall asleep in your bar but I was wide awake. What bothers me is after I assured you I was awake was still looking for a reason to kick me out. Something bad must have happened in the past and are now paranoid that incident could happen again. Plus there was no ventilation cause I guess the AC was broken.
If you are a human, and wish to do amazing fun things with other humans this is the spot. The only food is the cheese balls, but hey...cheese balls. Staff was great. I was in Austin for biz for a week, stopped here about 3 times. It was absolutely awesome. The mix of people was totally legit. Many of the karaoke singers were great at it. If you live in Austin, please go here, you are only cheating yourself if you do not.
Love this place & crew & owner!
Favorite karaoke spot in Austin.
Got denied at the door even though I broke none of the rules. Bouncer is on a power trip and cannot properly express what the issue is.
Great hidden gem of a karoke bar that gets started around 8pm.
Ego is exactly what you’re going to run into at The Door. Don’t waste your time, gas, money, energy traveling to get to this Place. It’s not a good experience. The door person a young African American guy with an “Ax to grind, with the world” seems to be working “AGAINST” the owner (s) or something. This person’s Ego and position is past the ethers. He shouldn’t be allowed to be onsite. What a piece of …
Went here for the first time with a large group. Out of 8-10 people I was told I wasn't allowed in- confused and concerned I inquired as to what the reason was and by the door man was given none. I didn't display drunk behavior and sat for a few hours outside in the cold while my friends were inside because tb door guy is on a power trip. Whoever owns this should read all the reviews and let him go as he's clearly ruining a good establishment being high off some Power
We spend 4 hours to sing here, many people sang 4 or 5 times, but the DJ didn't allow us to sing again because of rotation. Don't go there and waste your time trying to sing. The DJ has no brains and was very rude to customers, when raised with the manager of the bar ( a bar tender w pink hair) she defend him and let him do as he wanted; avoid this place, not worth it.
