The Xiao Long Bao and the Juicy Bao are the best, but you really can't go wrong!
7.5 crab pork soup dumplings must order. Chicken juicy Bao extremely very good. shrimp and mushroom dumplings very good. Chicken soup dumpling solid but worth ordering a different one. Mushroom chicken dumplings good. Veg dumpling ok to good but nothing special. Veg Bao was not as great. Bean paste noodles were ok worth trying something else.
Dumplings to your heart’s content. Good Xiao Long Bao soup dumplings. Really loved the Garlic Okra and Sesame chili oil dumplings. Seaweed egg flower soup was tasty. Could use attentive water refills (or just water on the table) when eating chili oil and dumplings with “numb spicy” in the name. Odd hours, and you will be left eating at the outdoor table when they clean up and practically close while you have full plates still on your table.
米其林煎包+湯包唷 地頭蛇強強~!!! 可以用中文點餐就是好 (??)
The food is amazing. I can eat this all day, everyday. The service is fine. The atmosphere unimportant - it’s clean and that’s all that matters. Better than Din Tai Fung. Place opens at 11:30 - we got there at 11:10 and were #3 in line. They won’t seat you if your party isn’t all there so make sure everyone is there when the door opens or you will wait.
Dumpling Home is well-deserving of its Bib Gourmand status; reasonably-priced and incredible tasting, it sits looking quite pretty in a corner in Hayes Valley, though a wait is most certainly going to happen (around half an hour). The spicy pork 小籠包 was an absolute dream; the tangy, the spicy broth stewing in what was probably a rich orange pork aspic on the inside, turns into the most delectable juicy 湯包 I’ve ever had in a long time. I cannot understate how the different textures of the 生煎包 interplay so beautifully with each other, making it a personal favourite of mine when it comes to dumplings. We got the pork and beef, and I’d choose the former almost every time, as the broth and meat was more flavourful, while the beef was more one-note. The bottom was crispy and had a flowery design to them, making it a perfect compliment for the soft innards. The 水餃 were just like what I’d have at home; it really felt like I flew back to the local haunt outside my grandmothers’ in Taipei again. The 蔥油餅 and 四季豆were great, but the 牛肉麵 was expectedly disappointing. Loved this place so much; missed home a bit more. Highly recommend.
