Cowboy Star Restaurant and Butcher Shop

I always have the most splendid time at Cowboy star. They treat everybody like family the moment you walk in. Food is delicious, the steak options are my fave! I think the bar has a beautiful ambience, it even moves if you’re lucky ;) It’s great for date night or a nice evening after a long day and the happy hour is the best. Last night I went to toast to international woman’s day. I went to the bar just for that one glass Thank you to Doug behind the bar who always gives stellar service.

My friend Martha has been raving about this spot for months and we finally had the opportunity to go on a recent trip to San Diego. my only regret from my visit was that I didn’t capture more pictures of the incredible food. Luis, our server, was amazing. Everything we ordered was delicious and the atmosphere was perfect for our evening of dining, conversation and our friend’s birthday celebration. And they were so gracious and helpful for our friend who is vegan - they prepared a few excellent options that she could enjoy as well. I will definitely be back!

I would definitely put this place Top my list for a nice dining steakhouse. I want your date during the week, in the restaurant was decently packed! Although the dinner experience felt very private. The service is very tentative. The ambiance is dimillect, posh, and elegant. It's a perfect spot for a fancy dinner date or celebration. This place is decently pricey so I would keep that in mind, I wouldn't say it somewhere casual to go. There is no dress code, however most people are dressed business casual. I am literally still dreaming about the steak I had here! Alongside everything else I was amazing. They bringing confidential bread, and that's where the taste buds begin to be stimulated! We ordered the clams, mac and cheese, and Brussel sprouts, alongside her stakes. Everything came out warm, tasty, and fresh! I highly recommend this place if you're looking for some good quality steak in a classy restaurant.

Normally this place is pretty fantastic. Everything is quite over the top. From the cozy atmospheric seating/ lighting to the cowboy/old Americana music. Even their bathrooms are lovely. While all that is great, the food this time was less than to be desired. I don't know, but the price did not reflect the quality. My partner shared the 40oz porterhouse, which isn't cheap mind you. $148. Comes with broccolini and mashed potatoes. The filet side of our porterhouse was very tender but flavorless. Not even salted. The other half was very tough. Do better guys. And I'm very sad to say, the potatoes tasted like instant. They were not good. We shared the charcuterie plate, cheese and fried cured meats. My friend got the extra side of Mac n cheese. Which tasted sweet. Not what I want from a Mac n cheese. But the bacon was good. The toffee cake dessert was amazing! So freaking good! I think my favorite thing. Our server was good. But overall pretty disappointed this time around.

I really wanted to like this place but they decided to pull a move that I have never had happen before. I ordered the filet & asked for it to be medium rare, it was super rare like raw when I cut it, so I had to send it back. I sent it back & it was more than obvious that it was the same exact steak so they literally just reheated it by the salamander or oven, instead of giving me a brand new steak. They gave me a free champagne but still the same steak reheated this is just the wrong way to go about fixing a huge mistake. We went in knowing it was gonna be expensive but to pull a move like that with a steak is just insulting. The pieces of the steak that I cut up were obviously gonna be more cooked than the other big chunk I didn't cut. I'm still puzzled.
